Ellie couldn't help but turn her attention fully to Will. She didn't know whether to be pleased or skeptical about his suggestion that they spend New Years together. She knew that she had admittedly been a little hard on him since Halloween, and while it still seemed entirely reasonable, she did feel like maybe it was time to stop being so angry at him. When he had started talking about her behind her back at school, that was really the first time that she had to admit to herself that all of their previous flirtation was maybe just that - just a game to play. And maybe given time without her really playing along anymore, he realized that he actually did like her - not only as a person or a friend but as the sort of person that you spent holidays with and continued to sleep with. "Oh," she said finally, knowing that she was going to continue to speculate about all of the reasons why he might have wanted to be her date to a party. Maybe, she thought, this would give her an opportunity to prove that she was more than just a pretty little trophy of sorts.
She nodded, "I would like that."

Will grinned at her. "Fantastic, I'll let you know and we can figure something out." He couldn't help but be pleased with the fact that he'd captured her attention again. In all honesty, there was a lot that he liked about Ellie Tyler. She was funny, witty and absolutely stunning. But he was sixteen and he wasn't sure that he really wanted anything serious with anyone. But he also knew that he really didn't want Ellie spending her time with Everett Quinn either. So he thought maybe, a few dates, wouldn't hurt anyone.
Everett vaguely recalled high school, asking out his previous long-term girlfriend for the first time. The chain of telephone he'd have to endure and unending gossip and the awkward fall out of their breakup. In retrospect, attempting to be a teenager in love had been one bumbling and awkward mess that they never accurately depicted in coming of age stories. He thought, perhaps, now being a spectator and watching Will attempt to ask Ellie out was even more awkward.

Ellie nodded her agreement, suddenly feeling very awkward and very much on the spot. She wasn't sure what she was thinking or what plan was brewing in her head, but she did know that part of her still liked Will more than she would have cared to admit. And, truth be told, he was always going to be the first person that she had ever had sex with, and like her sister had mentioned after her first time, that meant something. Even if at the time he thought that she was just a one-night stand, she knew that if she felt something more for him now, he must feel it for her too. She wanted to speak to her sister about it, or to Kensi, to see if she actually sounded as crazy as she was now thinking that she was. But it still seemed to make a bit of sense as well. Men were confusing, she decided.
Having decided for whatever reason that playing hard to get seemed to have been working, she turned her attention back to Everett. "So what Christmas movies do you normally watch? I have to admit, I've still never seen a lot of the classics... but! I have seen Elf about a thousand times. It happens to be one of my personal favorites."

Everett grinned at Ellie. “Elf is a great movie,” he agreed. “I like It’s A Wonderful Life and White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street a lot, those are my favorites,” he told her. “My mom insists on watching Love Actually every year though I don’t really know that I completely consider it a Christmas movie,” he laughed. Dropping his voice a bit as his eyes flicked up over Ellie's shoulder to focus on Will, he paused. "Hey, listen if you two want to hang out, I could make myself scarce," he offered reluctantly.
Will snagged another champagne flute off of another passing tray and wondered what he was going to have to do to make Everett go away.

Ellie laughed, "Love Actually is a great Christmas movie. Besides, what makes a movie a Christmas movie anyway? Love Actually is set during the holidays, so I think that makes it a Christmas movie as much as anything else. Except for those clay-mation Rudolph and Frosty movies. Oh, and the one with the elf that wants to be a dentist, I think that's adorable too."
When he halted their conversation to ask about Will, she shook her head. "No, I'm more than happy to talk to you." It was true, she knew, on more than one level. She truly did like Everett's company, and she felt like they really did have a lot in common, but it also seemed to bother Will in a way that she couldn't help but be a little happy about. "I like talking to you," she admitted.

Everett smiled at Ellie, nodding at her. He thought that, perhaps, if his mother wasn't going to most likely be inebriated during the holidays, he would have invited Ellie over to join them for movies and take out if she had an extra hour or two on Christmas. But he rarely had anyone over for that very reason. "I'll let you in on a secret, I like talking to you, too," he grinned. And it was true. Everett had few meaningful friendships, but he really did enjoy talking to Ellie and came to look forward to the chance to see her and talk to her again when the opportunity presented itself.
