Maddy nodded, perhaps a bit more enthusiastically than was called for. "Yes, please," she looked up at her fiance and gave him a smile, trying to push aside whatever feelings seemed to be bubbling under the surface. The important thing, she kept reminding herself, was that she loved Cooper and wanted to be with him. In fact, right now she was perfectly content to leave the party, go home, and curl up beside him. Actually, that seemed to be the only thing that felt at all comfortable in the moment.
Adam tried to stifle the loud laugh that he could feel arising at Riley's comment, softly nudging her in the side.
Brandon paid attention to Olivia's exchange with Amber, not sure he trusted the British woman not to say something that would upset Amber. He had been having a a relatively difficult time knowing what he should and should not be saying to and around her as it was and Olivia seemed to excel at pressing their buttons. When she stopped at the bar, he stepped beside her, placing his hand on the small of her back and pressing a kiss to her temple. "Everything okay?"

Cooper looked at Madison for a moment, wondering if he should be concerned at how she seemed to bristle slightly at Parker and Olivia's announcement. Nodding, he was going to ask Amber to grab them two drinks at her offer and then she stepped off and seemed to ignore them, so he flagged down a waitress with the catering staff and ordered two drinks, keeping his spot right next to the brunette he had his arm around.
Parker observed the situation for a moment, reaching for Liv's hand and tugging her in for a quick kiss. "I think we might get a more positive reaction elsewhere," he muttered in her ear, grinning. "Or we could go celebrate just the two of us for a bit." While Parker knew he couldn't leave the party completely, he did suddenly find it difficult to keep his hands off the woman he'd just gotten engaged to.
Amber tried not to stiffen slightly when Brandon came up beside her and asked if she was all right. She looked away and shrugged. "Just thirsty," she muttered sadly. She knew that this was irrational. She and Olivia had both been right - she and Brandon rarely took the traditional route. She loved him more than anything, and she knew he loved her despite the fact that recently through her pregnancy she'd been a complete brat. And yet here she was, trying to hold it together at least until they were able to leave the party and talk in private. "Plus, I just didn't really want to deal with that," she muttered, gesturing back to the others.

Brandon glanced back over at the small group, giving Amber a small, understanding nod. He couldn't say that he was particularly happy for the newly engaged pair himself, but he felt like his reasons might have been a bit different than Amber's own. Their history with Parker and Olivia wasn't one that Brandon was fond of, recalling the thousand times it seemed that they wound up in some sort of overly dramatic game which resulted in everyone really just being a loser. And then with Amber's absence, he hated to admit that Olivia had become something much different than she had been in high school. It wasn't that she had ever really meant anything to him, rather just provided him with a means to an end, but all the same, it was strange to think that she was moving past it all and toward becoming an actual caring adult. Though, he did have to admit that it was disheartening to know that with all of that, the history and the baggage that came with it, Olivia and Parker seemed to haved reached a point in their growth as people that he hadn't seemed to make himself. Even reminding himself that he had every intention of proposing to Amber did nothing to make him feel any better about it. So maybe, he mused, his own reasons weren't that different from hers after all.
"You know..." he trailed off, not sure what he could or really should say in this situation. Telling her that he had the intention of proposing to her someday seemed ridiculous, as did telling her that they were just skipping a few steps and having a baby first. "We don't have to stick around," he offered instead.
Liv smiled at Parker coyly, "Oh?" The temptation to slip away from the party to enjoy come celebrations of their own was great. And considering the fact that she wasn't sure what more she could say here, whether it was a brag or a subtle taunt, it was even more tempting to just move on to something else. "I will certainly take you up on that offer," she said pulling him away without so much as a wave goodbye to any of their former classmates.
At the sight of them leaving, Maddy couldn't help but let out a breath she hadn't been aware that she was holding. It had never been difficult for her to play nice with Parker in the past, even after he had ended their relationship to continue seeing Olivia, but there was something about that woman that seemed to truly get under Madison's skin. She chalked it up to a lot of history and a lot of hurt feelings, but she would have hoped that at nearly thirty years old she had grown past it. It seemed that some residual teenage feelings really stuck around. She pressed herself closer to Cooper, comforted by the fact that he was there. "Thank you," she said softly, not entirely certain what she was thanking him for - for the drink, or for simply being there.

Amber looked up at Brandon and nodded. “I’d like that, I’m sorry,” she said sadly. “I’m just exhausted and I think that the baby is turning me into an emotional wreck in general, you know yesterday I cried over a gum commercial,” she informed him and reached down for his hand. “I think maybe I’d like to just get out of here and relax for a bit.”
Cooper, meanwhile, wrapped his arms around Madison easily and pressed a quick kiss to her lips with a smile. “Anytime, Maddy,” he assured her, even though he was wondering if he was getting far too old for events like this.
Riley watched the British couple walk away and shook her head, muttering under your breath. “Bow before your ruler,” she whispered to herself, grinning when she felt Adam stifle a chuckle beside her
Parker wrapped his arms around Olivia as he led her away, graciously accepting well wishes and congratulations from the people around them as he did his best to pull her into the house where they were hosting the party in the hope of finding some privacy.
