Ellie smiled at him again before allowing him to lead her in the direction of her friends. There was maybe a small part of her that was a little worried about how things would go once they were all speaking again, not because she was afraid that there would be any outcry or that he would try and push them away again, but because it had felt like so long that she didn't know how that dynamic really worked anymore - especially considering the fact that Kensi's relationship, or what it was with Jamie, was still very new in terms of its labels. If there even were any. She hadn't even been able to figure out that one yet. At her friend's question, she glanced over at Everett briefly before turning back to her with a smile fixed on her lips. "Things are good," she said with a nod. "Thanks to you and this wonderful surprise party," she added, truly appreciative of how much work Kensi and Jamie had put into everything. Like she had thought in the limo on the way over, if nothing else came from the evening, now she could say that it brought she and her sister back together, it put her back on speaking terms with Everett, she thought she might have even had a date, and now she was surrounded by all of her favorite people.
Fighting the urge to reach out and grab Everett's hand to show Kensi how good things actually were, she instead gave a little shrug, a smile a seemingly permanent fixture on her lips.
Brody smirked down at her as she pulled him into a closet and locked the door behind them. He wasn't sure that this was necessarily the "right way" that they had talked about doing their relationship this time, but he couldn't think past just being with her in the moment. She had a valid point when she had said that it had only been a few days since they had last seen each other, but he reminded himself that they were still making up for lost time. Pressing her against the door the way that he had done in the hall when he had held her against the wall, his mouth hungrily sought hers and relished in the feeling of being back with her again. "Happy birthday," he told her softly when they broke apart for a second.
