For a moment, Brandon wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to say to Erin. Yes, there had been a time, even not so long ago, when he had sought whatever sort of comfort he could from Erin while he and Amber were apart. In high school, it had been because he and Amber had been on and off as much, if not more, than he and Erin had ever been. Erin had been who he had turned to when he had wanted to make Amber jealous, when he hoped that he would have driven the blonde back into his arms and back into his bed. When he had thought that he might have lost Amber forever, he had started filling the void that she had left with models, Liv's company, and on one's occasion, even Erin. Unfortunately, it seemed like there was a part of his life that he was never going to be able to live down.
He squeezed Amber's hand in return, wishing that he would have taken her up on her offer to have left before Erin had gotten a chance to say anything at all. "Erin, that's ancient history at this point," he informed her. "Obviously, things have changed significantly in the last several years. Shouldn't you be reminding your family why they're happy to have you overseas anyway?"

"Several?" Erin asked with a laugh. "Sweetheart, it was just a few years ago that the two of us were celebrating Christmas at the Penthouse," she pointed out, turning to Amber with a grin. "We both made it onto the naughty list that night."
Amber stiffened a bit but flashed a smile at Erin even as her hand slipped out of his. She laughed softly and shook her head, "Well, Erin, you might enjoy living in the past - however recent it may be - but Brandon and I are very focused on our present and our son and his future." She made deliberate effort not to mention their own future together. If her conversation with Cooper had been any indication of how Brandon felt, that wasn't a conversation that she wanted to have or a train of thought she wanted to wander down. "If you'll excuse me for a minute, I just remembered that Madison asked me to help her with something." She stepped closer to Erin and smirked down at her, "Remember when you and Cooper were the best of friends? Now you don't even rank in the Bridal Party or the first table, I wonder if that's what happens when you're a manipulative immature bitch?"
Erin laughed. "You'd know just as well as I would, A. But trust me, I wouldn't have agreed to be part of this circus. I liked Simone, she was much more my kind of girl. Her and Cooper were so happy before Elodie came along. Guess that goes to show you how a kid can bring down even the strongest relationships."
"Melanie." Amber corrected angrily. "And you should watch your mouth."

If it were only up to him, Brandon would have easily ended the conversation then and there, dismissing himself and Amber from not only this conversation but also the entire situation they had found themselves in with Erin. He would have much preferred to have continued to think of her as being nothing but part of their past. Unfortunately, it seemed like it was much harder to shake off the past than he would have liked. "Erin, I think that's more than enough," he dismissed.

Cooper spotted Erin talking to Brandon and Amber and realized just how horrible of an idea it was to have all three of them in one place. He kissed his wife before making his way over to them. "Hey you guys," he greeted them hesitantly. "Everything okay over here?"
Erin grinned at Brandon. "We were just having a friendly chat, Coop. And Brandon - I don't know, I think that we're just getting started and I'd love to pick up where you and I last left off." She nodded, "I mean - I get it. When you get a girl pregnant you have to do the right thing, but obviously you've realized what a lost cause she really is - because I don't see a ring."
Amber frowned the more that everything seemed to sink in. There she was, in a bridesmaids dress at a wedding for a couple that had been together only a fraction as long as Amber and Brandon had been involved, standing face to face with the one woman that always seemed to have had Brandon's attention in ways she couldn't. The knowledge that they had been together recently before Amber had returned from California only served to make it all sting more. She thought back to what Cooper had said earlier and now Erin's comment about the lack of ring on her finger and suddenly all that she wanted to do was get some air. "We're not entirely sure that marriage is for us," she stated flatly. She turned to Brandon and nodded, "I have to go take care of that thing for Maddy," she said gently before walking away as quickly as possible.
Cooper, watching the entire thing unfold, frowned a bit. Realizing his error, he looked at Brandon. "Okay....I did something and I think it upset Amber but before I tell you what it is I want to remind you that this is my wedding and I don't want to take pictures of me with a black eye, so just stay calm - because I can probably fix it."

Brandon suddenly realized why things had never worked out with Erin in high school. It had always been physical between the two of them, their friendship and the subsequent relationship had been based more on Erin's assumptions of how things were supposed to be rather than how they actually were. At first, it had been his own teenage stupidity that had ensured that they had never been anything serious, but the memory of how things had been a few years ago reminded him that maybe he had been more insightful than he was giving himself credit for. Ultimately it had always been Amber who had been the exception to every rule, even when they had been in high school. She had quickly become his best friend, and despite the fact that they too had been involved in a physical relationship, the two of them had always been much closer to having a traditional relationship. Now that they actually did have a relationship, a son, and he had an engagement ring hidden away at home for her, it was upsetting him to hear anyone say that it would have been otherwise.
When Amber had walked away, he had sighed out of frustration. He had been about to turn to Erin and say something to her about her assumptions and implications, but Cooper had momentarily distracted him from that tirade. "What did you do?" He asked flatly.
