Brody smiled down at her softly before moving over to retrieve the marshmallows from the top shelf. Holding them out to her, he waited for her to look at him before he continued. "It's not stupid," he reassured her. "And we'll get there, Morgan. It's just going to take some time, I'm sure." He stepped toward her and reached for her free hand. "We've spent more of our lives just being friends and study partners, it's kind of a big deal to jump into an actual relationship," he added teasingly, bending down and pressing a quick kiss to her lips.
At the knock at the door, Ellie drew her attention to the door, calling out that she would get it. She opened the door, smiling brightly at Toby. "Hi! We're glad that you made it. Did you find everything okay? Oh! Come in, sorry, how's your Thanksgiving?"

Morgan sighed gently, nodding at him. "I know," she admitted before he leaned in to kiss her. She quickly wrapped her arms around him though, abandoning the marshmallows on the countertop. "Ithaca spoiled me," she told him. "I'm used to being able to do this with you whenever I want," she nodded, leaning up to kiss him again, this time hoping her family would give them a minute to themselves. There was no such luck though, as she was vaguely aware someone had knocked on the door and she imagined it was probably their friend. "I think Toby's here," she sighed before looking up at him. "But to answer your earlier question - I can probably slip away later. I mean I'd hate for you to be all alone tonight," she nodded.
Toby grinned at Ellie. "Hi, Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for having me. My mom sent me with these. She also smacked me upside the head for trying to go anywhere without something to bring." He looked around, seeing who he assumed were Morgan and Ellie's parents. He nodded at them, offering out his hand. "Hi there. I'm Toby Seaborn," he cleared his throat awkwardly. "I go to school with Brody." And then suddenly, Toby was rambling as if he was the one meeting his girl's parents. "I'm a political science major and I brought brownies that my mom made, there are walnuts in them, just in case anyone is allergic. They were warm when she gave them to me, but I came from Queens. But you could microwave them...if you like them that way. I don't know why I'm still talking."
Riley laughed, shaking Toby's hand and taking the plate of brownies from him. "It's nice to meet you, Toby. Come on in." she said, gesturing him further into the apartment. "Morgan, Brody, your friend is here."

Brody nodded, "Ithaca spoiled me too, and I'm looking forward to getting back there," he added, a smirk forming on his lips. He broke away from their brief moment with a glance over in the direction of the door. "He always had the worst timing," he sighed before kissing her again. "But I'm going to hold you to that part about coming over later." Taking her hand, he pulled her back into the area where everyone else had seemed to gather. Smiling at Toby in greeting, he made a mental note to taunt him later for his rambling. "Hey, Toby, glad you could make it."
Ellie shook her head at Brody and Morgan's rambling friend. grinning at the young man's awkwardness around her family and the way that he tried to give them his life in a nutshell.
Adam shook the young man's hand, repeating Riley's sentiment, "It's nice to meet you. Please, make yourself comfortable. We were just finishing picking up after dinner, dessert shouldn't be much longer."

Morgan grinned at Brody before letting go of his hand to hug Toby in greeting. "Hi Toby!" she smiled at him. "You said brownies?" she glanced at the plate her mother was holding before realizing she left the marshmallows on the counter. "Did you have a hard time finding the place? Did you take the 7 train? Are you hungry for dinner? Have you talked to Alex today?"
Toby blinked at Morgan for a moment and then looked at Brody. "Did she exceed her caffeine limit again?" he asked before grinning at her. "No - it's a pretty big building, pretty hard to miss. Yes, I took the express 7 train and transferred to the local 2. My family and I had some take out earlier. And I texted her a few minutes ago and haven't heard back yet, but she did send me a picture of her with a giant turkey leg that she thinks is really funny." He ruffled her hair before walking over to Brody and smiling at him even as he looked around the Tyler home and resisted the urge to let out another low whistle. He was pretty sure he could fit three of his family's apartment in theirs. He imagined Brody's was similar in that respect. "So, enjoying the break from school?" he asked. "Midterms were killer for me, man."
Riley laughed at Morgan. "Sweetheart, let your friend relax for a bit. I'll finish cleaning up and get the dessert ready...and I'll make some decaf for Morgan."
Morgan let Toby and Brody catch up a bit before walking over to her sister and father, crossing her arms in front of her she cleared her throat.
