He shook his head at the other man's first question, feeling a little as though he was being teased, but he accepted Cooper's help all the same on piecing the rest of it together. Especially if it meant that he and Amber would be able to use it a lot sooner. Though, now that seemed to be dependant upon whether or not Cooper and Melanie would ever be able to go back over to their own little group.
"Good, things are good." Indirectly, Cooper may have been the one to give Brandon the idea to invite Amber out on their first date, not that he really wanted to admit it. "Different - but good."

Cooper nodded at Brandon. "Different can be a good thing," he nodded. "It takes getting used to, but the very best things in life do," he admitted as he continued to work on their tent. He was silent for a moment, he paused and looked at Brandon. "Things didn't work out with me and Melanie's mom," he admitted. "Part of that, I think, was my fault. So I know it's probably going to sound like I don't have room to offer any sort of guidance but, if you ever need anything. Amber's a good kid," he said with a shrug. "You don't completely suck either," he added with a smirk.
He didn't want to overstep his boundaries, so he basically left it at that. When he was younger, Brandon had been a thorn in his side and Amber had been someone to pick on, and he heard every story about them because of Erin and he'd always taken his cousin's side, tolerating them when they were on her good side and loathing them when they upset her. But Erin had left and it had taken a bit of time to remember that back then, he hadn't been the picture of good judgment and that his own cousin, love her as he did, was sometimes a real fucking brat.

It must have been the kid that suddenly made this man, not much older than he was, spout out advice. And really, Cooper hadn't said anything that Brandon didn't already know. After their first date it had been to easy to fall into a pattern with Amber, and the pattern itself seemed to be getting more worn the longer that they spent together. While the calendar showed that they hadn't been together long at all, part of him felt like they had never been apart. But they had - and the physical evidence was still around to prove it.
Brandon thought to the wedding ring that Amber had accidentally left behind on her first night back in the Penthouse. The fact that she had been married before was something that took a bit of time to get used to as well.
"Thanks," he nodded in agreement that Amber was a good kid. "I like her."

Cooper grinned at his friend before the two of them put the finishing touches on the tent. "Well, look at that. You're all set."
Melanie turned from where she was playing with Amber to look at the tent. "House!" she clapped her hands together, as though it was her own personal playhouse.
Amber walked over to Brandon, following Melanie as she skipped over. She wrapped her arms around Brandon's waist and smiled. "Look at that," she mused. "Very impressive."
"Let's play!" Melanie exclaimed. Cooper eyed the couple for a moment before reaching down to scoop up his daughter and put her on his shoulders. "Mel-Bell, let's go play at our tent, okay? We'll see Amber and Brandon later." he suggested, he offered Brandon and Amber a smile before walking to grab his daughter's backpack and head back to his own campsite.
Amber watched Cooper leave, tilting her head. "Do you think he's always had a soul, or one spontaneously grew a few years ago?" she asked with a laugh before taking a step towards the tent. "I think we should test your craftsmanship, Brandon," she nodded.

"It was definitely a spontaneous thing," Brandon nodded. Despite all that he might have thought about becoming predicable and getting boring, he was truly glad to have her here. Both at the function and in his life. She took a step toward the tent and he grabbed her hand, pulling her back to him for a moment.
He grinned and kissed her softly, squeezing her hand as he did so. "If it collapses on us, just remember that Benson did most of the work."
