Amber couldn't help the way her chest constricted when he mentioned it would take more for him to forget about her. She knew that in some sense, it was Brandon being Brandon. Charming and handsome with that smile. His hand on her thigh made her feel like electric currents were coursing through her entire body. In the years that she'd been away, she always remembered Brandon, but being there with him again was a sensory experience that she hadn't entirely realized how much she'd missed him - craved him.
Her husband, may he rest in peace, had been a kind man. He'd wanted to make Amber happy. He showered her with attention and tokens of affection. But she had never actually loved him. She'd married him because she thought that was what you were supposed to do when you hit a certain point in life and someone asked you to spend your life with them. By all accounts, she should have been happy, but she never was. Perhaps he was too eager to make her happy. Unlike Brandon, who sometimes challenged her to the point where she would lose her mind. They'd essentially grown up together and he knew her, and what buttons of hers to press, better than anyone else.
When he leaned in, she laughed softly, peering up at him. "You're pretty unforgettable yourself, Brandon. Though I wouldn't oppose to having my memory refreshed either."

He pressed his lips to her, effectively closing the small space that they had left between each other. His hand tightened softly against her thigh and his other hand moved up to grab the back of her neck, pulling her even closer to him.
Brandon realized that this was the moment that he knew was coming from the moment that he saw her inside of the reunion. No matter what games they played with each other, or how many times they refused to admit that there was anything to pick back up, he had wanted this. And he entirely blamed her. Her in that dress, her having grown up into a beautiful and intelligent woman - her for coming back.
He wondered if he would have felt this strongly about kissing her if she had never come back. If absence had made the heart grow fonder, or if the residual feelings from high school had some how been hiding in the background all this time.
Maybe it was because they had both grown that he felt whatever these emotions were. Despite their past relationship and despite the last ten years, kissing her truly felt right at the moment. He pulled away from her, just enough to pull their lips apart, but still kept hold of her neck and thigh. "Unforgettable you said?"

Amber sighed softly against his lips, kissing him back easily. She realized that his kiss was still familiar and when she thought back on previous kisses with other men never quite feeling right, she finally understood why. Brandon Finn very well might have become the man she would compare every other man to, only to decide they would never measure up. She wondered what would have happened if she hadn't left at all, or if she'd come back instead of accepting a proposal from someone she just didn't love as much.
When he pulled away slightly and spoke, she giggled and nipped at his lower lip. "That's what I said, don't let it go to your head too much, Brandon." Her hand toyed with his tie before she grinned and tugged him back in for another kiss. She didn't mention that kissing him was actually slightly better than she remembered or that the small voice in the back of her head from when they were still eighteen and completely reckless was willing her to lead him by the hand to the bar's rest room and press him up against the door.
His hand squeezed her thigh and she moaned softly into his mouth. She pulled back slightly and smiled up at him, fingers toying with his tie. "Want to get out of here?" she asked him pointedly.

Just like he had known what was going to happen if she agreed to get a drink with him, he knew what would happen if he left with her. But after tonight, he wouldn't know what would come next. Would they fall back into the familiar routine? Would they try dating again? But if they didn't go back to his place, and if he rejected her question, would they go on pretending that they were just friends? Acquaintances, even?
He wasn't sure if he was willing to risk it. "Yeah," he nodded, still refusing to release his grip on her. Smiling at her, he kissed her once more. "Did you mean now?"
Moving the hand he had placed on the back of her neck, he reached for his drink glass and polished off the rest of it. "You can let me know what you think of the new set up at the penthouse."
