She hadn't realized that she was actually nervous about what his response was going to be. If he had said no, then it meant that they weren't ready to cross that line yet, but now that he had said yes, she wasn't really sure what that meant either. It seemed like it was actually a big deal. She hadn't spent the night with him like this before, and she didn't know what the rules were or what she was meant to do. But still, she smiled at him and nodded, "I think that would be fun."
Maddy smiled at Melanie, "Before you have to go to bed though, we'll be sure to read one more story," she promised the little girl. "That is, if you want to."

Melanie clapped her hands together excitedly and bobbed her head. She was a firm believer that Maddy was the best at telling stories - or maybe she was tied with Brandon who also used funny voices to tell her stories. She climbed back onto the couch on the other side of Maddy and tucked up against her. "Okay! After the movie!" she chirped.
Cooper smirked a bit at both of his girls and then bent down to Madison's ear. "I think a sleepover might be fun," he nodded, keeping his eyes trained on the television screen.

Maddy smiled down at Melanie and wrapped an arm around the little girl. It was crazy to think how much she had already cared for her considering how little interaction she had with children over the course of her life. There hadn't been a lot of kids in her life and so everything she had known or had done with Melanie had all been by sheer force of instinct, she was just glad that it seemed to be working. Feeling Cooper near her ear, she turned to him and smiled, looking him over though he never seemed to lose focus on the screen in front of them. "Hmm," she mused. "I wonder what kind of fun you're thinking," she added softly.

Cooper chuckled softly. "Well, I'd be happy to show you later on after bed time stories," he whispered. He knew that, in the past, he'd talked about going slow. But now that he and Maddy had made their feelings for one another clear, he wanted to show her how much he actually cared about her. And he would be lying if he said he hadn't thought about it for quite some time now.

Butterflies seemed to rise up into her stomach and she kept trying to tell them to knock it off. She wasn't sure what it was about Cooper or their current relationship that kept making her feel like this was the first time that she had ever been in this situation. Maddy was starting to feel silly about how much she had actually thought about it or thought about what the next state of their relationship was going to be like, but she was glad that she had. It had made her feel a lot less off guard to hear it hinted at. "Oh," was all that she seemed to get out coherently. "Okay."
