Ellie smiled at her mom, "Tacos sound awesome!" She tried to infuse some sort of light-hearted air into the room considering the fact that it looked like her sister was getting awfully close to either screaming at their father, or bursting into tears. Not wanting either to happen, she looked at Morgan with a small, goofy smile. So far she had just gotten bits and pieces of the conversation, but what she had been able to put together was that Morgan had finally slept with Brody (which she was thrilled about) and their dad wasn't taking it very well. Sure, she knew that he had a tendency to get a little, or maybe a lot, overprotective, but she did think that he had crossed a line by telling Morgan that she couldn't see Brody anymore. On top of the fact that Morgan was grounded, she just didn't know what to do or what was even really happening. Morgan was normally the one that tried to help her weasel her way out of being grounded, so she figured that she at least owed her sister for this one. "So, family, I've been thinking," she announced. "I think that we need a new family member. Perhaps something furry with a fondness for sass and tuna. Maybe even ... I don't know... a cat?" She nodded, "Yes, we should get a cat."
Adam frowned at Ellie and shook his head, "Ellie, now's not the time to have this cat discussion again." Turning to Morgan, he nodded softly. "I'm sorry, but yes."
In an effort to try and keep her sister from getting too upset, Ellie meowed sadly at her father's dismissal of her desire to get a cat.

Morgan frowned, her mind racing with what this really met. Could he really keep her from Brody? She'd never explicitly disobeyed her father. But the temptation was there. Still, the very fact that he had grounded her and was attempting to keep her from seeing him made her chest constrict. She was barely paying attention to her sister's request for a cat, until Ellie meowed. She turned to look at her sister, still blinking back tears. She knew exactly what Ellie was trying to do, and she quickly hugged her twin sister tightly. "But dad, Ellie needs to be near her own kind. And if I'm grounded and staying home all the time, I could possibly suffer severely on a social level from lack of exposure. A pet kitten might really help with both of those issues," she said softly, whispering a soft thank you in Ellie's ear as she let go of her hug.
Riley pinched the bridge of her nose when Morgan started speaking. She bit her lip to stifle her laugh as she reached for a magazine and pretended to be really enthralled by it.

Adam looked between his daughters for a minute before looking over at Riley. Sometimes he realized how truly outnumbered he was in his own family, and he wasn't sure whether to give up the fight or just laugh at how quickly they all teamed up against him. Morgan and Ellie, he had always expected, it was something about the fact that the twins had grown up completely attached to one another, but when Riley seemed to avoid coming to his defense, he generally realized that maybe this wasn't a fight that he could win. Maybe, he noted, maybe he had been wrong to tell her that she couldn't see Brody anymore and maybe he should have just let her learn the lesson the hard way. But he couldn't stomach the idea that she would, or could, get hurt. Maybe, he realized, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to give in and get the girls a kitten, especially if it meant that it could be the end of their fight over boys and sex. "Riley?" he prompted her for her opinion.
Ellie pouted at her parents, "Please? It's the only thing Morgan and I have ever wanted."

Riley looked at Adam for a moment. She wondered if they had gotten to that point in their marriage where she could telepathically communicate with him using only a look. If she could, she sent him one that either said We need to talk about some of this later or maybe it was accidentally something stupid, like the duck quacks at midnight, either way she shrugged slightly. "I mean, I don't see the harm in having a cat as long as the girls promise that they'll take care of it, feed it, clean up after it, and that Ellie won't start crawling around after it and refusing to use English to communicate."
Morgan leaned her head on her sister's shoulder, still not making eye contact with her father. She thought maybe, once she won Ellie her pet kitten, that she would retire to her room and think about how she was going to tell Brody that she'd been grounded for having sex.

Ellie looked at her mother as though considering the proposition. If the least she could do was get her sister out of this horrible ordeal, then maybe she wouldn't have to think of her first time with a guy as something bad, maybe she could think about it as a nice day that ended with her parents finally agreeing to adopt a kitten. "Well, I can't promise that I won't at least try and communicate with it. At least once or twice. Who knows, I might end up being the first person who can communicate with cats. So can we get one, really? Right meow? Can we go to the shelter?" She grinned widely. "And then we can get tacos."
Adam sighed, realizing that he had absolutely lost this argument. He didn't like arguing with Morgan, and he didn't like her being unhappy with him in any way, so if this was something that he could do to make her happy, then he wanted to do it. "Okay," he agreed after a long pause. "You can have a cat. But dinner first, we can pick one out another day. It's been a very long day already." Looking over at Morgan, he hoped that they might be able to get past all of this soon.

-------- Morgan had gone through dinner with her family and even a tummy full of tacos couldn't help her dismay at her argument with her father. So she'd been a bit sad and had allowed her twin sister to distract her. Well before Brody, Ellie had been her best friend for the longest time. She was her confidant and closest companion literally since before they'd been born.
After returning home, Morgan knew that her best bet at salvaging the day was going to talk to her sister. Ellie would be happy for her. I'm So after changing into her pajamas, she walked out of her bedroom with bare feet and tapped lightly on Ellie's door. She entered her room, closing the door behind her. "Hi," she said softly. She walked in and sat down on her sister's bed.

Ellie couldn't even begin to understand what her sister was going through, but she was doing her best to take her mind off of it. Throughout dinner, Ellie had kept trying to steer their conversation back to their new kitten. After announcing her intentions to name the kitten Cat Ellie, Morgan had helped her brainstorm on what might be better for their new pet. Once they had decided on naming it Einstein, she had started thinking of all of the other things that were going to go into having a cat. But, she had to admit, she was glad to stop feeling as though she had to provide a distraction once she was back in her room. She was pretending to be interested in her homework, having placed the most recent copy of Cosmo on top of her science book.
Looking up at her sister with a wide smile, she appreciated the distraction. "Hi! What are you more excited about, the kitten or Brody?"

Sighing, Riley fell back in the bed staring at the ceiling. "Well, Brody. But this fight with dad really isn't helping." Turning her head in her sister's direction, she smiled softly. "It's kind of worth it though. I mean, it was perfect." Grinning at her sister she then let out a soft giggle. "I mean after his mom walked in," she covered her face with her hands as her cheeks flushed.
"That's probably why mom and dad know." Biting her lip, she glanced through her fingers at her sister. "Do you think Dad's right? Do you think Brody's going to go to college and I'm going to get hurt?" It seemed so upsetting to think that someone who made her so happy could also be the person with the power to hurt her the most.

Nodding in understanding, Ellie knew that the last thing that she personally would want in this situation would be to fight with their dad. She could understand why Morgan might have been a little upset by the fight, but she was glad to hear that she still thought that her first time was perfect. That the was the only thing that she could hope for her sister, and that was the thing that she hoped for when it was her turn too. She giggled in response, thinking what it would have been like to have been walked in on by Brody's mom. "I can't believe that you guys kept going after Mrs. Finn walked in."
It did make sense that having Brody's mom walk in was entirely the reason why their own parents had known. She almost wished that her dad had never found out, it probably would have made it easier on Morgan at the very least. But when it came to whether or not Brody was going to hurt Morgan, that was easy. "I don't think he's ever going to do anything to hurt you intentionally. The Brody Finn that I know would do anything for you."

Morgan laughed softly at Ellie. "Yeah, I was kind of surprised he still wanted to. But he did." She turned to the ceiling and sighed. "We were studying and I asked him to get me water. And I bought this uh - slip thing from Victoria's Secret that I had on under my dress. And I took off my dress while he was in the kitchen." She blushed, "I basically don't know what I was thinking. But it worked out." She smiled softly and when she thought about it. "And he was really sweet and perfect and," she sighed. "I don't know," she grinned.

If possible, the grin on Ellie's lips widened when she discovered that it had actually been her sister behind the whole thing. She had been expecting that it had been Brody that had seduced her sister, actually, knowing both of them she had been absolutely certain that he had been the one to have started the entire situation. "Oh my god, you little temptress," she teased, knowing how out of character it must have been for Morgan to have been in that situation with Brody. "I'm so happy for you. I knew that you were going to wind up together someday. Oh, are you together?! Do you want to be together?" She realized that she was probably asking more questions than she probably should have been, but she suddenly found herself with a unique opportunity to get first-hand advice. That was something that she didn't really trust Cosmo to give her, at least not honestly.
She hesitated before asking more questions, actually finding herself a little nervous to ask, "How was it? Did it hurt? ... Did you like it?"

She blushed bright red when Ellie called her a temptress. "I don't know. I just knew that I wanted to be with him my first time and I thought that he should be with someone who cared about him a lot his first time too."
She pursed her lips and shrugged her shoulder up. "I don't know if we are together or not. I mean, if he wanted to be...but I don't want to seem clingy or anything." Frowning, she shook her head. "I don't want to pressure him or anything."
"It was the way I thought it would be, or hoped it would be. It hurt at first, maybe a bit more than I was expecting. But he was sweet and careful and I don't know it was awkward for both of us but in a way we could laugh about it. I liked it," she admitted with a giggle.

She nodded, if there was anyone that she ever thought that her sister was going to wind up with, it was Brody. In fact, that had been her hope when she had tried to get the two of them to spend some time alone together at Brody's back to school party. When the pair of them had disappeared at one point, she had hoped that they would have found themselves in a similar situation, but she wasn't sure if they had. In fact, she realized, she wasn't sure if this was even their first time. "You two didn't... at the party, then?" she asked finally.
Either way, she knew that it didn't matter. The important thing was that after years and years of watching her sister and Brody play some sort of weird cat and mouse game, they had finally acted on their feelings and she was so excited for it, whether or not they were actually together. "It's not clingy! He slept with you, that has to mean something. I'm sure he's already thinking about it."
And even more than she was glad that they might be well on their way to being an actual couple now, she was more pleased that her sister hadn't had a bad first time, though she was sure that it would have been near impossible for her to have a bad time with Brody. "I'm so happy for you," she added with a grin.

Morgan smiled at her sister. "No, we didn't have sex at the party," she nodded. "We did kiss though," she added with a soft giggle. "For most of the night." She looked up at the ceiling, unconsciously lifting her fingers gently to her lips. "Which was also just...fantastic. That's the only reason I think I started anything," she admitted. "I kissed him, really quickly, and I told him that I thought we should have our first real kiss, you know? And he told me that didn't count either, and he kissed me - and I swear to God, I know it sounds super lame, but my knees went weak. And I think he would have then, you know? But I didn't want it to be at some party with everyone outside. I wanted it to be special."
"Maybe he is, I don't know - should I ask him?" she pursed her lips and frowned. "I guess I was sort of going to see what happened next time we were together. But now that I'm grounded - I mean, I don't expect him to act differently at school," she said softly.
Turning to Ellie, she grinned. "Thanks, Ellie. I'm glad someone is." Taking a breath she grinned, "And we're getting a kitten!"[/i]

Something in the way that Morgan spoke about her experience, both in having sex and with making out with Brody, made Ellie feel like it really didn't matter what their dad had to say about the matter. What it really came down to was the fact that she couldn't remember the last time that her sister had been so ridiculously happy. A small part of her was a little jealous of it, but an even larger part of her probably would have been more disappointed had Morgan not gone through with it all in the first place. She really did think that Brody was the perfect person for her sister, no matter what anyone else had to say about it. "You guys are practically a romance novel, you realize that, don't you?"
Still grinning, she shrugged, "I don't see what the harm in asking him would be. I think that things are probably different, I don't see how they couldn't be. Even boys have to think that it means something." Laughing at her sister's excitement over the kitten, she said, "I know! It's going to be great. This had really been kind of a good day for you if you think about it. You got Brody and a kitten all in one. That's not so bad."
