It had barely been a week since the Halloween party, and the events that followed, but Ellie Tyler could feel herself becoming more and more jaded by the day. After leaving the party with Will Blye she had found herself back at his apartment, quickly becoming caught up in an activity that she had never before participated in. Having no sexual experience to speak of, her nerves had been running rampant and she had continuously felt like she had made blunder after blunder. Prior to this encounter she had let a guy unbutton her school uniform while they were making out and he had touched the newly exposed skin. That, she had thought at the time, was ridiculously sexy. Sex itself had been less than sexy, she realized, noting the irony. Or maybe it was just her first time that hadn't been ideal. At least it hadn't been as romantic as Cosmo or even Morgan had described it. There was no sexy lingerie, but she thanked her lucky stars that she had thought to at least put on matching underwear. There was no courting or years of sexual tension just finally exploding, it had just been a lot of kisses, a lot of touching, and then there had been the actual sex. And it was just ... okay. Boring, if she was being entirely honest, and it had hurt.
The worst part, however, had been when she realized that she still needed to get back home. Not that he had even offered to let her stay in the first place, but she knew that having abandoned her sister at the party, she was probably safer to just head home instead of sending a quick text to her parents telling them that she was going to be staying at a friend's house. So she had pulled her strappy heels back on, tried to salvage her make up to the best of her ability, and collected the various pieces of her costume that had become strewn about. She let herself out of the building and called a cab to drive her back home, thinking all the way about what she had just done. Part of her felt exhilarated by the experience, but when it was all said and done and she realized that Will wasn't interested in it being anything other than sex, part of her had just felt slutty and dirty.
She had brooded on that thought for several days now, spending the majority of her nights out with various friends at parties all across the city, trying to make herself forget the way that she felt. Hoping that it would just go away, she wondered if she could just silence it by doing it again with him. Maybe if they slept together enough he would realize how attached he was to her and then it would become something. After all it wasn't until after Brody and Morgan slept together that they ended up dating.
But that was another wrench in the entire debacle, she knew, because things with Brody and Morgan seemed considerably strained now. There didn't seem to be an easy solution anywhere in this situation. But finally, a lazy Sunday had come around and Ellie was taking the opportunity to distract herself with anything and everything else that she could. Besides, she was nursing a decidedly bad hangover with a cup of tea and a new issue of her beloved Cosmo, and in the moment that seemed to be good enough.

Fifty three hours. That was the new record. That was how long Morgan had been awake before going to bed on Saturday night. During her sophomore year, she'd started taking caffeine pills to help her stay awake and spend more workable hours of the day taking care of her school work. Since starting her junior year, she'd graduated to something different at the recommendation of one of the boy's in her AP History class. She had been using them sparingly, for nights where she'd had trouble with her homework and also preparing for the SATs, but since the previous week's Halloween Party, Morgan had almost been using them as a welcome distraction from dwelling on Brody, Jamie, and Melanie.
Ellie had been going out a lot lately, and while Morgan wasn't sure what had gone on, she was concerned about her twin. After sleeping in Sunday morning a bit, a rest well needed after her continuous study session, she padded around the apartment, looking for something to eat. After shoving a few handfuls of dry cereal into her mouth, she went off in search of the cat. Surely enough, she found Einstein in Ellie's room. "Meow," she greeted softly. She padded her way inside and sat on the floor, trying to coax the kitten out from under the bed. "Hi." She hadn't been wanting to bother Ellie, who seemed upset of her own accord, with her issues with Brody. So at school, she was cordial when she saw Brody, even polite, and then she would walk off in the direction of the nearest restroom to find a stall to cry in.

Ellie looked up at the sound of her sister's voice, "Hey," she greeted softly as Morgan took a seat on the floor. Flipping through the magazine with a little more force than was necessary to turn the pages, she looked up from an article on how to succeed in your career as a high-powered businesswoman and watched as Morgan tried to coax Einstein out from under the bed. "He's being sassy today," she advised. Admittedly she thought he might have been hiding because she had already yelled at him for a multitude of reasons that didn't seem to make any sense now. She blamed it on the residual alcohol coursing through her system.
Taking a sip of her now cooling tea, she sighed softly, wondering if it was too soon to take more ibuprofen. "So what are you up to today? I thought I might have heard you still up when I got home last night so I figured you might have slept through most of today."

Morgan nodded, coaxing the kitten out and scooping him into his lap, playing with him with a soft smile. Ellie questioned her plans for the day and Morgan shrugged a shoulder up. "Last night I got caught up studying for the SATs," she admitted. "Today I'll probably study some more, nothing else on the agenda." Chewing on her lip, she nodded, she'd been thinking a lot about her plans for her future ever since Halloween and she wanted to talk to Ellie before even bringing them to her parents. But it didn't feel like the right time.
"My heart hurts, and I think it's because yours is hurting," she said softly, gesturing between them. "The twin thing," she smiled sadly at her sister. "What's wrong, El?" she asked deliberately but gently, moving to sit on her sister's bed beside her, Einstein in her arms.

Ellie smiled softly at her sister and shook her head, "It's nothing, I'm just hungover, I'm sure." It seemed silly to lament about her feelings being hurt over something that she really brought on herself. The one thing that no article ever really prepared someone for was the feeling that a person experienced when they were faced with the reality of having had a one-night stand. Especially when one-half of the people involved had no idea that it was going to be a one-night stand when they got themselves into it. She bounced the teabag up and down in the mug, letting it splash around unnecessarily.
"I mean -" she cut herself off quickly, still unsure of whether or not she wanted to burden Morgan with her mistakes. "I left the Halloween party with Will," she nodded as though recounting the facts for herself. "We ended up having sex at his apartment." Turning to look directly at her sister, she frowned a little. "It's not really a big deal." That had been her mantra since it had happened, well, even before it had happened if she was being honest. She kept trying to feel like it was the truth, that she could will herself into believing that it wasn't as big of a deal as it should have been.
Shrugging, she turned back to her magazine, flipping the page again. "Where's your study buddy?"

Morgan looked up at her sister, she tried not to frown too much. Having never been a fan of Will's she didn't want to judge her sister's decision, but based on the way Ellie spoke about it, it didn't seem like it had gone the way her twin had been hoping. "Are you two..." she trailed off for a moment. "Are you two together now?" she asked curiously, she reached out, playing with her sister's hair in what she hoped was a comforting manner. She had always been a firm believer that first times should be special, and even though she'd initially thought her own had been, lately she wanted nothing more than to forget it had ever happened. She was hoping for Ellie, it was at least something close to what she'd wanted. "Are you okay?"
When Ellie asked about Morgan and Brody, the redhead just shrugged. "We decided it was better to stay friends," she explained softly.

Ellie sighed and leaned against her sister's side, resting her head on Morgan's shoulder while she looked down at the fluffy little kitten in her lap. Reaching out and petting Einstein softly, she tried to think of how exactly she could describe everything that had happened with Will in a way that didn't make it seem as thought it was really a big deal. "No," she said softly. "And it's fine. Really." She added the last part more for her own benefit, she thought. "I don't think I'm really the relationship type anyway. This was just something that happened." Finding herself unable to look at her sister she instead focused on Einstein, making the poor kitten high-five her before tickling the bottom of his paw.
She did, however, sit up straight and look at her sister curiously at the mention of her rekindled friendship with Brody. "Really? Did something happen? I thought for sure that you guys were well on your way to fairy tale endings."

Morgan shook her head at Ellie, "If you say it's fine - it's fine. But when it stops being so fine, you can come and talk to me about it," she assured her, sighing and still playing with her hair. "I'll take care of it," she promised her sister. Already thinking of ways that she could put Will in his place for hurting her sister, none of which she was too privy to share with Ellie at the time though. She sighed, curling up against her sister and pulling her in for a tight hug. "You know I'll take care of it," she reiterated. Despite only being older by a few minutes, Morgan was fiercely protective of her sister and she thought it was rather unwise of someone like Will Blye to mess with Ellie when Morgan's track record was well documented.
"Brody and I were never exclusive, you know? I figured when he graduated and went to college he'd want to explore his options, it just so happens that came up sooner than expected." She chewed on her lip and shrugged a shoulder. "It's for the best," she admitted. "I was getting really caught up in the idea of being with him and with him going off to school and this being such a big year academically, dating was just going to be a distraction."

Ellie was trying to figure out exactly what it was going to take to make everything stop being fine. Honestly, things weren't fine now, but she didn't want Will to know that she was having any issue with it. She very much wanted him to change his mind, however. But as she hugged her back she became skeptical of what she meant by promising to take care of it. She looked at her sister with a frown, "Morgan, please don't say anything to him. It's really fine." She hoped that the more that she said it, the more she would start believing it too. "And please, don't tell mom and dad?"
She sighed softly at Morgan's explanation of what had happened with Brody, shaking her head. "What does that even mean, not exclusive? Did he go out with someone else?" Realization crept up on her and she gasped, "Did he sleep with someone else? Oh, I'm so mad at him." If Morgan felt like she needed to take care of things for her, then she felt like she definitely wanted to take care of this situation with Brody for her. "I really thought that you guys were the be all end all."

Morgan pursed her lips for a minute, "I'm not going to say anything to mom and dad, El," she promised. "And I won't say anything to him, but if he does anything else..." she warned gently. "I can't be held all that accountable for what happens then, if I keep talking about it it's premeditated, so let's just go with I won't do anything." At the mention of Brody, she shook her head. "He...uh...he slept with Melanie at the Halloween Party," she said gently. "I went looking for him to see if he could take me home later after you left, and he was in her room and..." she shrugged. "I thought for a second that we were, too." She felt her eyes fill with tears again, but she looked away and shook her head. "Stupid, the whole thing is stupid."

Ellie shook her head, "He won't do anything," she promised. Based on everything that she had experienced just in the last week, she doubted that Will was even going to acknowledge that anything had happened between them. She hated to think that all of the flirting and all of the little games that they played were just over now. She hated to admit even more that she might have even had a little crush on him. She entirely blamed the bad boy phase that she had already decided she was going through. Especially considering how bad he seemed to be now.
Surprise nearly caught her speechless when she heard that Brody had slept with Melanie. "I can't believe him," she said, perhaps more vehemently than she had meant to. "He's such an idiot, Morg. The biggest idiot. Ugh, I have no idea why anyone would ever ruin something with you for someone like her."

Morgan nodded at her sister, shrugging a shoulder. "Yeah, I mean I get it. She's older and she's pretty and she's...experienced." Morgan pursed her lips and held her sister closer, hand reaching for Einstein. "Guys suck," she muttered. "Want to eat ice cream out of a carton and watch movies where the hot girls die in the first twenty minutes?"
She didn't make a further promise on keeping away from Will, but would at least make an effort to do so as long as he kept himself in line. But having as little faith in Will as she did, she imagined she would have to step in at some point.
