Morgan was glad that when she'd gotten herself a drink, no one had spiked it. After that she decided to keep to herself, wondering why she'd even bothered to come. Her argument with Remi had gotten under her skin and she was starting to feel ridiculous for consistently glancing at the entrance in hopes of seeing Brody. She was thinking about it when he spoke and she jumped a bit. She smiled softly at him, smoothing out her dress. "Hi," she greeted, looking at him. She couldn't help but let her gaze linger. "Look at you - all dressed up," she grinned at him.
"Are you here with someone?" she asked hesitantly. She licked her lips nervously and realized that, without her boyfriend in attendance, she had the option of spending the entire evening with Brody if that was what they both wanted. And she did, despite realizing how dangerous that was.

Kensi smirked at Jamie and nodded, taking a long sip of her drink and wincing before handing it to Ellie with a kiss to the other girl's cheek. "That's all you," she nodded. "I'm going to go get to know my new friend," she nodded, grinning at Jamie and gesturing for him to walk out with her. She glanced up at his date, her eyes going wide as she feigned an apologetic expression. "Oh, were you and -" she started, grinning and shaking her head. "Let's go."
Everett stepped up behind Ellie as Kensi seemed to lead Jamie Benson out of the room. "Well, glad I was a good date. The kind of conversation she couldn't even walk away from," he joked, turning to Ellie and taking a sip of his water. "You won't abandon me, will you?" he asked with a small smirk.

Brody smiled at her, taking in the sight of her in her prom dress. The last time he remembered seeing her all dressed up had been on their first date. That night had started off in a way that he could only describe as memorable, in fact he had found himself getting distracted by the memory on more than one occasion. "You look beautiful, by the way." Suddenly being near her was making him fixate on the conversation he had had with his mother about his feelings for the redheaded girl in front of him and he was feeling as though he was going to be getting dangerously close to telling her how he felt about her. Which, if he was being entirely honest, he wasn't really sure that it was even the right thing to do. He didn't know Remi well enough to make any judgments on him, but he did know that he wasn't particularly fond of the relationship that Remi had with Morgan. It just didn't seem like he made her as happy as she deserved to be.
"No," he shook his head, "Is your boyfriend around?"

Jammie smiled sympathetically at his date, trying not to laugh at Kensi's own response to her. He smiled at Ellie, appreciative of the fact that his friend had introduced him to Kensi and followed the brunette out of the ballroom.
Ellie laughed and took the drink from Kensi, giving her friends a small wave. "Have fun, don't do anything I wouldn't do," she told them. She should have known when she brought Kensi over that it was ultimately going to end up here, with Kensi deciding to start her own party. "And hey, text me if you still want to meet up later for more dancing and drinks!" She called out after them, before turning to Everett with a grin. "Of course I won't abandon you," she reassured him. Holding up the cup she had inherited from Kensi she offered it to him, "Since my partner in crime is gone, maybe you'd be willing to get into a little trouble with me?"

Morgan blushed at Brody's compliment, dipping her head and glancing away. "Thank you," she mumbled before tucking her hair behind her ear and looking back up at him. "Remi didn't come, he thinks prom is a silly tradition and then we got into a bit of an argument," she explained, waving it off dismissively. "Ellie's my date tonight, but she's off with Everett and Kensi somewhere," she shrugged a shoulder up. "I was beginning to think I should have stayed home," she admitted. "I thought maybe you weren't coming."
She fidgeted a bit, biting her lip and trying not to eye him too much. Suddenly she was reminded of why it was so hard for her to sometimes be in the same room as Brody. Her eyes briefly glanced at his lips and she wondered if kissing him was as good as she remembered. Sighing, she looked down, trying to avoid looking at him. "I'm glad you came, though."
Everett smiled at Ellie, chuckling. He reached for the drink in her hand and took a sip, shaking his head. "That's it, that's the most trouble - I don't want to push my luck. But if you need a dance partner, I've been told that I'm not too bad at it," he grinned. "And, as always, if you need help getting out of trouble, I'm here," he joked.

Brody couldn't say that he wasn't pleased to find out that her boyfriend hadn't decided to tag along for the evening, but he was still surprised to find out that he not only didn't want to come but that it had caused an argument. Selfishly he wondered if he played any part of that argument, and he tried to dismiss the idea as quickly as it had started. "It doesn't sound like Ellie's too great of a date," he teased, shaking his head at the idea. Though, he did suppose that the lack of Ellie Tyler around at the moment did provide him with the opportunity to spend more time with Morgan alone. "I'm glad I came too," he admitted. "Maybe you'll let me be your unofficial date for the rest of the night?"
Something in the back of his mind kept saying that it was a bad idea, that he was going to get dangerously close to causing issues with her and her boyfriend, but he kept dismissing the idea. If he was being entirely honest, he wasn't sure that he really cared at the moment.

Ellie grinned brightly at him, laughing as she accepted the cup back from him. "You're such a troublemaker," she teased. She wasn't sure whether it was a good thing or a bad thing that Everett always seemed to be on his best behavior. In combination with Kensi, she supposed that it was good, he provided a nice balance to their wild child antics. He tended to be very non-judgemental and he really only seemed to add to the adventure. Though, at the same time, she wondered if he had a bad boy side that was just waiting to get out. She couldn't help but feel as though that was something that she would have loved to see, but all the same, she was almost glad that Kensi had decided to leave them alone.
"A dance partner?" She questioned with a coy smile. "Well, I might just have to take you up on that." Finishing off what was left in the cup, she winced at the taste before quickly shuffling over in her heels to the nearest table to set the empty cup down. Rushing back over to Everett, she didn't even pause to give him a heads-up as to what her plans were before she pulled him onto the dance floor. Even before she had been able to stake her claim on a vacant spot, the song shifted to a much slower one, causing her to momentarily hesitate. This felt much more unexpectedly intimate, but she figured that she had already gotten this far, it didn't really make sense to stop now. Stepping closer to Everett, she gave him a small smile and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Sorry, I figured I already dragged you all the way out here it would have been silly to beeline it back out of the crowd." Looking away from him for a second, it was occurring to her that they had never spent any time together like this before, and she couldn't say that it wasn't causing butterflies to rise in her stomach. "So, that Kensi, huh?" She said softly. For whatever reason she felt like she needed to fill the silence between them before it became awkward.

Morgan smiled softly at Brody, blushing when he offered to be her unofficial date, she nodded a little too eagerly. "I'd like that," she said, biting her lip for a moment. She knew that it was probably a bad idea, that she shouldn't be this close to Brody - especially after her recent fight with Remi. Her boyfriend - a term that still felt foreign on her tongue - hadn't liked the idea of Morgan's friendship with Brody but had implied that he was okay with it because if Brody had felt the same way, he would be with Morgan.
Morgan had to admit this response hit closer to home than she would have liked. She knew that if Remi knew she was jumping at the chance to make Brody her unofficial prom date, he'd have a lot of things to say - none of them very nice. She pushed these thoughts aside and turned to look up at him again. "Want to dance?" she asked him hopefully.

Everett had always practiced his very own special kind of rebellion. It hadn't taken him long as a young teenager to figure out that when it came to his father, the best revenge was being kind and well behaved. Of course, there had been plenty of instances where he'd pushed the limits simply to have his father humiliated - even a couple of times he'd been dragged down to police precincts - never for anything too bad, usually parties and clubs that had been raided by cops for underaged drinkers. Still, those instances had been few and far between.
He was laughing as she placed her glass down and then rushed to lead him out onto the dance floor. He wrapped his arms around her and smiled, gently taking the lead and moving them in time with the music. He took a deep breath and realized just how fond he'd become over the recent months of her perfume and shampoo. "Kensi, yeah - crazy little pixie," he muttered. "I think it's sweet you brought your sister as your date," he told her.

Brody grinned at her, pleased that she had agreed. For a moment it had crossed his mind that she night have said no, whether because of the fact that she already had a boyfriend or already had a date, or because their own relationship seemed to be in a weird state of in-between. In between being friends, best friends, or something more, he wasn't sure. He was starting to hate what they had become, some weird unidentifiable pair that seemed to find it incredibly difficult to talk to each other, but seemed to have no problems expressing their desires, their feelings, physically.
But, he conceded, the entire reason he had decided to come at all had been for her. Rather for the dances he had promised her. And so he nodded at her question, offering her his hand. "Shall we?"

Having him so close was distracting. At first, after she had found out that Everett and Kensi were friends, she hadn't given his inclusion in her social circle much thought. After spending a little bit of time with him before becoming a trio, she had nearly written him off as a nice enough guy, but not one that she saw herself having any interest in. But as their small group began to spend more time together, she had started to enjoy his company more than she had thought she would. In fact, she had started to look forward to it. She had dismissed it at first, reminding herself that in whatever way, she had Will.
Will was the one who had taken her on dates and flirted endlessly, he was the one who kissed her and sleep with her, but he was also the one that never seemed to care about actually being with her. She understood the draw of remaining free of attachment, but she argued that all teenage girls wanted a real boyfriend too. But she also wondered if just a year's difference in age was enough to place him in a spot where he just felt that he was too young for a girlfriend. And so she had started to pull away. Not in a way that she thought was obvious, but she no longer waited for his messages and she hasn't invited him to prom.
She had been perfectly content to be Morgan's date, and she would still be there for her in a heartbeat, but she wasn't sure she could pull herself away that quickly. It had gotten worse the moment she had tried to dismiss whatever feelings she thought she had for Everett as just a silly crush. Somehow admitting it to herself had made it all much more real.
She tried to focus on the conversation instead to keep herself from becoming fixated on his lips and wondering if he ever though about kissing her. "Yeah, her boyfriend didn't want to come so I volunteered to be her date. It's basically both her junior and senior prom so I figured she couldn't miss it," she told him with a smile. "How did Kensi rope you into coming to this thing?"

Morgan smiled up at Brody, hating the way that her cheeks flushed as she took his hand and followed him out onto the dance floor. She was sure that what she’d told him before leaving was right. She’d always loved him. She’d loved him in the way that a little girl loved a little boy and went chasing after him every day on the playground screaming out ‘Wait for me!’ She’d loved him in the way that you love your first crush, just hoping every day that they notice you back in the same way. And she loved him as her first kiss and her first real date and first boy she’d ever slept with. Now the hard part was convincing herself to stop loving him as the person she wanted to be with forever. Because he didn’t want the same thing.
She wrapped her arms around him on the dance floor and realized that maybe even agreeing to a dance was a mistake. But at the moment she was trying not to care or worry about what anything meant tomorrow. He would be going away to school in the fall. She would be with Remi. The idea of putting more space between them made her heart ache a bit.
“You’re not so bad at this, Brody,” she nodded. “Have you been taking dance classes and not telling me?” she joked. She was glad she’d worn the heels Ellie had picked out for her and not the shorter ones she’d been considering.

Everett smiled down at Ellie, nodding at her. He knew exactly how Kensi had roped him into coming as her date. She’d pleaded, promised him a bunch of laughs and also hinted not-so-subtly that Ellie was coming with her sister and not with Will Blye. Despite the fact that Everett hadn’t said a word about his feelings for the younger girl, Kensi had picked up on them with keen radar-like senses and zeroed in on it. While she never called him out on it, she’d been talking a lot about muses lately and he wasn’t a stupid guy.
“Well, funny story – or, I guess not very funny story. I met Kensi at a party my senior year. She was dating this kid I graduated with – real jackass. They got into a big fight at the party – volatile, I guess. I didn’t like the way he talked to her, so I got her some water and walked her home. The next day that we were in school, she sat down at my lunch table and announced we were friends. Anyway, later on that year, I had broken up with my girlfriend and I asked Kensi if she wanted to go to prom with me. Hand to God, I was only asking her because I figured if I went with a friend it would suck less – she’s like a kid sister,” he nodded, pausing thoughtfully. “And that annoying little wood nymph said no. Instead me, her, and a few other friends got dressed up and went bowling and got pizza. So she called me up and told me that she owed me a prom and that I needed to keep you both out of trouble – and that she’d buy me a pizza later. I never say no to pizza.”
He shook his head with a chuckle and looked back down at her. “I’m willing to share that pizza though. If you wanted a slice. But we should come to an accord about toppings now, I take those very seriously.”

For whatever reason, their dance was starting to feel increasingly uncomfortable. Brody had thought that it was going to be easy, that he was going to be able to show up and that it was going to be like nothing had changed between himself and Morgan. They would be able to converse with each other in the way that they always had, that the flirting was going to be light-hearted and come naturally, but the truth was that none of it felt like it should have. Whether it was because he couldn't stop thinking about his mother's encouragement to tell Morgan how he felt, or if it was his own subconscious arguing about whether or not it was even the right thing to do, it didn't matter. The only thing that did matter was that he kept telling himself that nothing could happen from here. Morgan had a boyfriend, and Brody's own dislike of the other young man aside, she seemed happy enough with him. Not as happy as she had been with him, a little voice always liked to interject, but still happy.
Smiling down at her, he gave a little shrug of his shoulder. "It must just come naturally," he teased. "I hope that it at least makes up for your date seemingly abandoning you at your junior and senior prom."

Ellie smiled at the thought of Kensi abandoning prom to go bowling. If there was anything to be said about her friend it was that she was certainly a free-spirit, and she loved that about her. Ellie's family had always been the type to think first and act later and it was refreshing to have someone whose philosophy was so completely contrary to everything that she was raised to believe. Really, if anything, she hoped to be a little bit more like Kensi sometimes and worry about the consequences much after the fun was had. That probably explained why she had been so willing to follow her friend into countless adventures over the past several months, and why the thought of spending all next year with her seemed a lot less terrifying than doing it alone, or at least without Morgan.
Shaking her head, she laughed softly at him, "I will leave that entirely up to you. I'm much more go-with-the-flow when it comes to my pizza toppings." Truth be told, she was happy that she was going to have him around next year too. That was as long as he wasn't planning on leaving. "Any big plans this summer?" she questioned, trying to remain as casual about it as possible. "Or this fall, really. Are you thinking about going to school?"
