It wasn't that Ellie Tyler had thought much about this night in the last several years. She wasn't the sort of girl who fantasized about what her perfect prom night would consist of, and she had no expectations of what her dress was going to look like or who her date was going to be. The one thing that she did know about prom was that she had always thought that it was going to be a big deal for both her and her sister. Maybe not because of cheesy traditions, limos overflowing with their friends and smuggled champagne, and awkward dancing, but it was going to be the end of an era. At first, Ellie had thought that was going to mean the end of the era of them being juniors, a sort of celebration of their senior year, and then she assumed that next year would be the end of their high school era. It was probably naive to think it, but she had always assumed that she and Morgan would stick it all out together. From the dress shopping and graduation, to college and beyond. Ellie had, after all, had her sister by her side since the moment that she was born. But it seemed like that five minutes of independence, of Morgan's life before Ellie was born, had given her a much stronger sence of wanderlust and self-determination than Ellie had herself. In Ellie's opinion, Morgan hadn't seemed nearly as excited for prom than she had in the blonde's imagination. She thought that she was going to have to keep her sister from bouncing off the walls, making scrapbooks of the event, and reel her in at the end of it all so they could get back to reality. But instead, Morgan seemed to just being going through the motions. Ellie had wondered if Remi's lack of interest had anything to do with it, or his refusal to come out with them after the event, but all the same Morgan had still agreed to be her sister's date, and Ellie was determined to make the best of it. She had even invited Kensi and her date along for the festivities. Now, standing beside her sister, Ellie felt even more enthusiastic to ensure that she and Morgan had a great time. She brushed her hands over her dress, making sure to smooth out any wrinkled that may have formed. "Thank you again for being my date," she told Morgan with a smile.

The truth was that Morgan had always imagined prom being a wonderful night. Even though her own high school experience hadn’t been the most enjoyable – there weren’t a lot of friends who’s yearbook she’d be lining up to sign, she wasn’t walking away with an award for being the most popular and she highly doubted she’d be in the running for Prom Queen. She thought that it would have been great. Her original plan, almost a year ago, was to go to prom with Brody and have that be the first night they spent together before he went off to college. But things had changed and now she found herself so far from where she ever saw herself on prom night.
She and Remi had gotten into their first full blown argument – one that made her wonder why he’d even decided to come to New York and continue dating her. But she reminded herself that he had, and that had to mean something. So Ellie had agreed to be her date and the truth was, that made Morgan even more happy than going with the boy she’d met in France. She adored her sister and even though she didn’t like thinking about it – they were going to see less of each other soon. So she figured that this could be a night just for them. “Of course,” she said to Ellie with a bright grin, teetering slightly in her heels. “There’s no one I’d rather be here with,” she told her honestly.

Kensi Cavanaugh wasn’t a big fan of school dances. But prom seemed like one she couldn’t really avoid. Plus, armed with a few friends she figured that any excuse to dance seemed like a good one. With Everett on her arm, she had schlepped out of her house, waving her hand dismissively at her mother who was begging her to fix her hair or put on a pair of heels instead of her beat up Converse high tops.
Everett teased her the whole way for the frills on her dress and she only rolled her eyes at him, yanking his tie playfully and leading him over to Ellie and Morgan. “Tyler girls times two!” she exclaimed happily, grinning at Ellie and pulling her into a hug. “So, when does the fun stuff get started – spiked punch, awkward moments, dumping pigs blood on some telekinetic girl with anger issues?”
Everett chuckled at Kensi, shaking his head at her. “The only reason I agreed to come to this thing is to make sure you didn’t spike the punch,” he informed Kensi with a shake of his head. He smiled at Morgan and Ellie, ruffling Kensi’s hair as he did so.

Ellie grinned at her sister, glad that so far it seemed like her plan to let it be a good night for her was working. She wasn't sure why Remi hadn't wanted to come with Morgan, considering the fact that she thought that a high school prom would be one of those quintessential American traditions that he would have loved to be part of if only to make fun of it later. Quite honestly, she wasn't sure that she really got her sister's boyfriend, he seemed to have a list of a thousand things that he didn't want to do and yet he always seemed to be trying to mark his territory with Morgan. It seemed... well, she was trying not to judge.
"Good," she announced to Morgan, before adding teasingly, "Because we are probably the best-looking couple here anyway."
At the sight of her friends approaching, Ellie's grin only widened. Hugging Kensi back excitedly, she laughed. "I was waiting for you for all of that. I figured that the party really only started then anyway, after all, who else is going to get me in trouble?" While Morgan had been away, she had found herself turning to Kensi and Everett's company more and more, and the dynamic that had been established had helped to reassure her that she was still capable of having a phenomenal time without her sister. Which, if she was being entirely honest, she knew, but it was nice to be reminded of it. Smiling at Everett, she was glad to see that he was here to keep up his end of their dynamic which was trying to keep herself and Kensi from getting into too much trouble. Though, she was starting to realize that she looked forward to seeing him more than she probably should have.

Morgan smiled in greeting at the other two, fidgeting slightly and glancing around. She was trying very hard not to remember a promise that had been made months ago – about someone saving her not one, but two whole dances. She forced herself to stop looking around and focus on her current company. “Well, that sounds like a lot of fun, but I think I’m going to watch – that way if someone needs to call home with a convenient excuse about why we’re coming home so late,” she joked.
Kensi sighed at Morgan before turning her attention to the others. “Well, let’s dance or find some punch to spike or a boy,” she nodded. “Or all three!” Even though she’d come with Everett, she glanced around for someone of interest. After all, Everett was one of her friends but certainly not her type. More brotherly than anything else. “Because, no offense, Ev, but they do say it doesn’t matter who you bring to prom, all that matters is who you leave with.”
“Gee, thanks Kensi. You sure know how to make a guy feel special.” Everett smiled at Ellie. He knew that he liked her. And maybe that was why he’d quickly agreed to take Kensi to prom instead of wondering if it would be a good idea to go with Ellie. If there was one thing Everett had learned it was that getting close to someone ran the risk of them getting hurt. Still, he couldn’t help but want to be selfish for a night. What could one or two dances hurt? After all, despite the fact that she’d brought her sister as a date, he was still pretty sure she was interested in Will Blye. “You guys look great, by the way,” he nodded, offering Ellie a grin.

Ellie shook her head at Morgan, "Oh, please," she dismissed, still grinning at her. "The whole point of prom is to do something crazy, right? At least that's what I've taken away from a lot of really cheesy high school movies." She hadn't given much thought about what she was going to do to make sure that her sister had a great time, but if she took anything from teen movies, she was sure that standing in the corner being a wallflower would really achieve nothing. Part of her really hoped that her sister would cut loose and make the best of the whole evening, but she knew that it might have been easier had someone helped her out with it. Whatever Morgan and Brody's hang ups had been, part of her had hoped that he would be able to help her with her plan to make Morgan enjoy prom. Actually, more than anything she had hoped that Remi would have come, if for no other reason than to keep Morgan's mind off of Brody.
Deciding that it wasn't worth it to keep dwelling on her sister's life, she grinned at Kensi. "Do we have to do them in that order? It might be fun to start with the spiked punch, maybe loosen up everyone enough to go all out on the dancing. If I don't go home without my feet feeling incredibly sore, I'm going to feel like prom is incredibly disappointing." Plus, it provided a good excuse to just act on instinct. Not only for Morgan, she knew, but for herself too. Somehow it seemed a lot easier for her to justify flirting with Everett if she could excuse it as the alcohol talking.
With the fact that she still was confused about what her relationship with Will was, she had been trying to figure out what her next step was supposed to be. She was torn with trying to continue playing hard to get, which she had done by purposefully not inviting him to be her date to the prom, or she could just give up and move on when he was obviously uninterested. Besides, she felt like she was getting dangerously close to having a crush on Everett if she didn't already. She was really refusing to think about it. And she supposed that's where spiked punch might help as well. "Thank you," she said to him, "You don't look so bad, yourself. So, are you going to keep us from getting into trouble or are you going to join us tonight?" she teased.

Everett smiled at Ellie, shaking his head. "I'm just here to keep an eye on you two is all," he told her. "And because Kensi told me I had to," he nodded. "She's a bossy little Pixie." He ruffled Kensi's hair again, smiling when the petite brunette punched him in the bicep and stuck her tongue out at him. In the few years he'd known Kensi, he'd come to think of her as a younger sibling and liked that she seemed to invite him along often on her adventures.
Kensi laughed at Ellie, smiling brightly at her. "We can do whatever you want in whatever order you want," she told her with a nod, linking her arm in Ellie's and tugging her in the direction of the refreshment table, thinking that perhaps they could scope out who else was there and also find some trouble to get into. Kensi had really only agreed to attend prom because of Ellie, wanting to have as much fun with her friend as possible. In her book they could have gone out anywhere and still had a good time, but she was content to start at a school dance. She was glad Everett had agreed to be her date, there was something low pressure about having someone who was just a friend come along with her - no commitments or expectations. Besides, she also thought it was important for Everett to come and spend more time with Ellie, but she'd never admit that much.

Had she not known better, she might have assumed that there was something going on between Kensi and Everett, but the more time that she spent with them the more that she started to realize how silly that assumption would have been. Beside, Kensi seemed to be more than happy to find and flirt with a new guy, and Ellie enjoyed helping her to meet someone new. Though, all things considered, she figured that she was probably the last person who should have been trying to set her friend up with anyone. After the disaster that had become her sister's relationship with Brody, Ellie had determined that maybe it just wasn't her natural talent in life to try and force people together who just didn't seem ready to be together.
"Well..." she said, grinning mischievously at Kensi, "If it were up to me, I would maybe start with the punch and go from there. Of course, if we wanted to limit the party to ourselves, I may happen to know someone who might have snuck a small flask into her handbag for just such an occasion." She had no idea what had compelled her to do it, but she had bought the small flask on a whim over spring break and hadn't encountered a situation yet where she had felt the need to use it. Quite frankly, she had never really found that she needed to, but a school function like this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Plus, there wasn't a chance of getting caught for accidentally getting any of their classmates drunk - who knew who could and couldn't hold their liquor in their class. Though, that sounded incredibly amusing as well. "Or, if it happened to get dumped into the punch bowl, we'd really just be perpetuating the stereotype and I don't there's really anything wrong with that either."
Looking out over the crowd of people that had come out for the evening, she spotted Jamie Benson with an upperclassman girl she only really knew by name, as well as a bunch of other classmates she had never really bothered to get to know. But, she noted, still no sign of Brody Finn. Too bad for Morgan, she thought. "After that, maybe we can find you a nice boy to flirt with? Then dancing? Lots of dancing." As though that triggered the memory of their planning, she grinned suddenly at her friend. "Speaking of, we're still going out after this, right? There's really only so much of a high school event that I think I can take."

Kensi grinned, “Maybe we should keep the party to ourselves then, why share the fun with a bunch of people we don’t like.” She too had a flask in her purse and at the refreshment table, she poured herself some soda and glanced around in search of chaperones, finding none she reached into her purse and decided to turn her drink into a full blown cocktail.
She smirked at Ellie and looked around the dance floor, spotting someone unfamiliar with one of the popular girls she’d never really liked. “Who’s that?” she asked, tilting her head. “He’s kind of cute,” she said and then shrugged. “And he deserves a better date.” The classmate in question had tormented Kensi in years past until finally giving up when they realized Kensi would never bat an eye in public over it.
Everett took a breath as he watched Kensi fix herself a drink, shaking his head and trailing along behind the girls. As Kensi set her eyes on someone new – Melanie’s brother if he wasn’t mistaken, he mentally wished the younger boy luck. He glanced at Ellie and shook his head. “We might very well lose her after this.”

Ellie giggled and nodded her agreement even while Kensi made herself an impromptu drink. Stealing her friend's cup for a moment, she took a drink of her friend's beverage and made a face before handing it back. "That is... strong. Oh boy, this is going to be a fun night." Looking in the direction that Kensi had been looking, she felt herself grinning at the idea that was suddenly forming. She could only assume that she was talking about Jamie, considering the fact that she felt like everyone him on the dance floor was not necessarily what she considered to be cute. Though, she did suppose that she had high standards. Whether or not Kensi had meant to ask about Jamie, Ellie decided that he would be the perfect person to set up her friend with. He was cute, funny, and aside from the fact that his sister could be a royal pain in the ass, he had always been a very good friend to the Tyler girls.
Laughing at Everett's warning, she turned to Kensi. "That would be James Benson," she told her friend, grin still poised on her lips. "Everyone's just called him Jamie for as long as I can remember, though. He's Melanie Benson's little brother, but aside from genetics I'm not really sure what exactly they have in common. Do you want me to introduce you?"

Everett took Kensi’s drink, sniffing it and wincing, he reached onto the table and picked up the soda bottle, pouring more of it into her drink to water it down. “Be good,” he warned her. He wasn’t sure how he felt about Kensi going after Melanie’s brother. While Everett didn’t consider Melanie much of a friend, he knew her pretty well and knew how protective of her brother she could be. But he opted not to get involved, especially if selfishly it gave Kensi an excuse to go off and let him talk to Ellie a bit.
Kensi tilted her head at him, never one to be much of a fan of Melanie Benson either, she thought that maybe getting to know her brother might be interesting. Besides, she did think he was pretty cute and if Ellie thought he was all right – she trusted that. “All right, let’s go meet him.”

Ellie pouted at Everett when he added more soda to the cup, "Party pooper," she muttered to him. At Kensi's agreement to meet Jamie, she grinned brightly and grabbed her friend's free hand, tugging her excitedly in the direction of her childhood friend. She didn't know why she didn't think of it before, considering the fact that Jamie was kind of the only boy she knew who wasn't actually dating someone. Well, who didn't have someone that he should be dating. As far as she was concerned, that was the primary reason why she had never tried to set Kensi up with Brody, or really with Will if she was being entirely honest. Though, now she did have to wonder if maybe Will and Kensi would be better suited to each other.
"Hey, Jamie," she greeted him brightly, ignoring the senior he had been chatting with. She didn't look particularly excited to be here herself so Ellie hoped that they were doing her a favor by pulling Jamie away from her. "How's your first prom going? I just wanted to come over and say hi, and introduce you to my friend Kensi."
"Hey," Jamie greeted Ellie in response. Spotting the girl to her side, he smiled at her. "It's nice to meet you, Kensi."

Kensi grinned at Jamie, "Nice to meet you too," she nodded, glancing warily at her date before smiling at him again. "It's my first prom too," she nodded. "First school dance actually, I used to skip them." She nodded, taking a sip of her drink, she tilted her head at him, eying him for a moment with a slight smile. He was cute in a way different than the boys she typically spent her time - those guys were generic and honestly pretty douchey.

Brody hadn't been convinced that he was even going to bother going to prom. It seemed ridiculous to spend a night with a bunch of his classmates in a supervised circumstance when there were a thousand other things that he was sure that they could have all been doing. In fact, he had been planning on skipping the entire thing and just stopping by one of the after parties later but then he remembered a promise that he had made to Morgan before she left. And it wasn't just the promise that had made him change his mind, it was also the growing realization that his feelings for Morgan were becoming harder and harder to ignore. He just didn't know how to tell her any of it under current circumstances.
Walking into the overly decorated hotel ballroom, he couldn't help but immediately start looking around for her. He gave a smile smile when he found her seemingly trying to hold up a wall. "Hey," he greeted her, "I think I promised you something about a dance or two?"

Jamie nodded, he wasn't one for school dances himself but for whatever reason it seemed to be important to Melanie and his mother had gotten so excited about it, and so he had agreed. Truth be told, he barely knew his date, and from what little he was able to learn about her so far, there wasn't much to really get to know. The company of Ellie's friend, Kensi seemed to be much more appealing. And honestly, it seemed even more appealing to get out of here if she was interested. "I don't know if you'd be up for it, but we could skip out of here for a while if you wanted to?"
