When Morgan Tyler woke up that morning, she’d decided to slip out of bed to make breakfast for herself and Brody but allow her boyfriend to sleep in. Pulling on one of his sweatshirts, that really fit her like a dress, she made her way into his kitchen to put on a pot of coffee and hunt through the refrigerator for eggs. Her weekends in Ithaca were her favorite. It was nice to have a little private bubble for the two of them to explore their relationship and essentially play house with each other. The two of them would make food together, curl up on the couch to watch a movie, and essentially just enjoy each other’s company for long weekends.
As she hummed and bopped around Brody’s kitchen, she didn’t notice the sound of the front door unlocking until she heard Amber Finn’s chuckle behind her. Turning around, her eyes landed on Brody’s parents, his mother holding a plate of cookies. “Oh, shit,” she muttered before ducking behind the island in the kitchen, as if they might have thought she had just imagined it.
Amber glanced at Brandon with amusement. “Well, it seems Brody forgot that it was Parents’ Weekend,” she nodded. “Morgan, sweetheart. Where is Brody?” She stifled a laugh as Morgan’s hand rose above the counter to point towards the bedroom. Handing her husband the plate of cookies, she started towards the bedroom, pushing the door open. “Brody, darling,” she waited for her son to stir. “It’s Parents’ Weekend, and Morgan is in your kitchen without pants on, so it’s time to wake up.”
Morgan, meanwhile, stayed where she was in the kitchen, sighing, she cleared her throat. “Hi, Mr. Finn,” she said meekly. “How are you? Did you guys hit any traffic on the way up?”

For the briefest of moments, Brody had forgotten exactly where he was and what was going on. At the sound of his mother's voice he had expected to open his eyes and find himself in his childhood bedroom, but instead he found himself in his apartment and slowly registering what she had said about it being Parents' Weekend. With a sudden sinking feeling in his stomach, he realized that he should have remembered it days in advance, but the arrival of Morgan in Ithaca had placed other things at the forefront of his mind. She served as a truly fantastic distraction - though at the moment she was sure that she was proving to be more of a focal point that he would have liked her to. It wasn't the ideal way to tell your parents that you were dating Morgan again.
Even worse, he suddenly realized that in the aftermath of his night with Morgan, he was in a certain state of undress that he felt driving an unwanted, red hot blush to his cheeks. Sitting up and carefully holding the blankets in place, he cleared his throat before speaking, trying to find the right words to say and clear the sleep from his voice. "Mom, could you give me a second, please?" he tried to remain calm instead of shouting at her that she should leave. This was absolutely not the way he pictured Parents' Weekend, or the reintroduction of Morgan as his girlfriend.
Brandon watched in amusement as Morgan seemed to be permanently fixed behind the kitchen island, setting the cookies down on the counter top and shaking his head at the entire situation. He couldn't help but laugh softly at it all, from the fact that he and Amber had caught Brody with a girl in his apartment, to that girl being Morgan Tyler of all people.
"The drive was fine." Noting that she still didn't seem likely to come out from behind the island, he stayed in the entrance way, waiting for Amber to return with their son. "I'm doing well. How are you, Morgan? How is Columbia?"

Amber nodded at her son, stifling another laugh. “Okay, well, put some pants on and then bring a pair out for Morgan before she tries to dig a hole through the floor to escape,” she told him before walking back out of his bedroom and joining her husband. She smiled brightly at Brandon, dropping her voice and shaking her head.
Morgan felt her face flushing red with embarrassment. “Columbia is good, I’ve been having some trouble with statistics, but Brody’s been helping me.” She winced a bit, well aware that her voice was a full octave above what it normally was. "Other than that things have been...good. Would you guys like some coffee?" she offered, still not making any effort to move.
Amber couldn't help but laugh out loud. "I think we're good, Morgan. Brody should be out in a minute."

Composing himself as quickly as possible, Brody threw on whatever clothes he could find, knowing that they had tossed everything haphazardly around the room the night before. Retrieving the pants that he explicitly remembered helping her to remove, he braced himself for what he was sure was going to be an uncomfortable situation. Avoiding making direct eye contact with his parents, he realized he didn't see Morgan anywhere. He did, however, hear her voice coming from behind the kitchen island.
Laughing, he crossed over to it and handed her the pants he had brought for her. Figuring that it was best to save his apologies for later, he gave her a small smile before turning to his parents uncomfortably. "Hi..." he didn't know what to say to them. They had come up for the full tour of the campus, to gain insight on his classes and possibly his social life, and instead they were being treated to a large part of his life - one that he hadn't yet informed them about. "As you can see - Morgan's been coming up to visit me."
Brandon nodded at his son's statement, not able to keep the smile from his lips. "Apparently."

The real struggle was trying to put her pants on without standing up. It took some considerable effort on her part. But once she’d managed, she slowly stood, her face still bright red. She glanced at his parents with wide eyes. “Hi,” she greeted them softly before turning to Brody - upon seeing him, she felt a bit better about her state of undress and the embarrassment she'd just experienced. “Good morning,” she said to him. “I was going to make breakfast,” she nodded before turning to them. “Could you guys, possibly, not tell my parents about this? I’d rather tell them myself.”
Amber grinned at Morgan. “Well, I’m telling your mother. But I’ll let you tell them first,” she agreed before turning to Brandon. “I think that that’s fair, anyway.” She smirked up at her husband.
Morgan nodded. “Do you guys want breakfast?” she asked. “Or should I go?” she glanced up at Brody. “You should probably spend Parents’ Weekend with your parents.”

It hadn't even occurred to him for a moment that Morgan's parents still didn't know, and potentially could have a problem hearing about this entire ordeal from his mother. Brody was relieved that she was being given an opportunity to tell her parents, but he wasn't sure that it was going to help. The last time that they had been together, her father hadn't been a particularly large fan of their relationship, let alone of him. He supposed that they could at least thankful that it had been his parents who had walked in on them being together and it hadn't been hers.
"No, you should stay, it's fine," he added before his parents had a chance to object to Morgan spending the day with them. The truth was he not only did not want her to have to take a bus all the way back to the city, he didn't want her to go. Having forgotten about Parents' Weekend, he had been much too excited about the opportunity to spend time with her and he didn't want his parents to ruin it.
Brandon wasn't sure what he had been expecting when he walked into his son's apartment. Part of him had been under the assumption that Brody would have been hungover and in bed still, and another part of him wouldn't have been surprised if he had been walking home from a girl's dorm instead of waiting for himself and Amber. After everything that had happened, he hadn't been expecting to find Morgan here with him, though he supposed there was a lot that he wasn't up to speed on. While it had never been a secret that Brody had feelings for the petite redhead, actually seeing them together again, seeing them as an actual dating couple, put the entire thing into perspective.
And while she always had, it seemed that she made him exceptionally happy now too. "Should we go get brunch?"

Morgan looked up at Brody hesitantly, but when he seemed so sure about wanting her there, she couldn't help but smile brightly at him. She chewed on her lip and nodded. "Okay, I'll stay," she said gently. She turned to the older couple and when Brandon Finn suggested brunch, she turned to put the ingredients for breakfast away that she'd already taken out. "That sounds nice, I'm just going to go wash up and get changed into something more presentable." Without thinking about her actions, she leaned up on her tiptoes and pressed a quick kiss to Brody's lips, as was her usual morning tradition, before shuffling off to his bedroom to change into her regular clothes.
Amber gave Brandon a look before taking a seat at one of the stools by the island in the kitchen. She looked knowingly at her son and nodded. "So, I see you and Morgan finally had that talk I recommended," she observed knowingly before smiling. "I guess we can gather that it went well." Amber loved that Brody could confide in her, but a little part of her took some odd amusement in the awkward situation that had just unfolded, and like any good mother - she also delighted in embarrassing her child, figuring it was her God given right as his mother.
