After the first time that it had happened, Brody had been surprised. It wasn't a bad surprise, he admitted, and it was something that he had caught himself thinking of on more than one occasion. Something about the first time that he had found himself with Morgan and Alex in his bedroom had lingered in his thoughts more than he thought that it would have, though he thought it might have had a lot to do with the fact that it seemed to have awoken some kind of curiosity in his girlfriend. She suddenly seemed a little more adventurous, a little more vocal, and combined with everything else he already knew and loved about her, he had found his feelings for her intensifying. Just the fact that he continued to learn something new about her, despite the fact that they had known each other as long as he could remember, was enough to make him realize how much he loved her.
What he had quickly learned about her was that she wasn't afraid of taking things into her own hands, and she wasn't opposed to trying anything twice. Finding that she had already orchestrated a second night for the three of them had been an interesting experience in itself. The fact that both girls seemed to enjoy themselves as well only served to inflate his interest, as well as his ego.
He had thought that after everything had happened with them that it might have created a subtle, or even not-so-subtle, awkwardness in their small group of friends, but it didn't seem to. As they continued to resume their social interactions with Toby, it really had seemed like nothing had changed. If he was being entirely honest, Brody was a little impressed with how simply they had been able to keep something like that was interfering in their friendship.
Having gathered everyone over to his apartment for a movie night, he was trying not to think about any of it, opting to try and keep his attention elsewhere. "What movie should we watch?" he asked Morgan as Alex joined them in the living room, plopping down on the sofa, ready to provide her unsolicited input.
She straightened out the pillow resting against the arm rest and accidentally uncovered her own bra, obviously forgotten the last time that she had been here. Freezing for a second, wondering how on earth she could have forgotten something so integral, she tried to quickly justify it that her brain had been elsewhere that night.
"Oh, something funny," she provided quickly, trying to inconspicuously shove the offending article of clothing in the gap between the arm rest and the sofa cushion. Alex quickly realized, however, it probably wasn't the most inconspicuous move in the world.

A weekend in Ithaca had been exactly what Morgan needed after a tiring week at school. It seemed more and more that every time she was away from her boyfriend, she missed him more. At the end of each weekend, she found it harder to go back to Manhattan. Curling up beside him on the couch, she was glad to be in his apartment with their friends. She was pleased that everything between them had proceeded as normal given recent events between herself, Brody and Alex. The truth was that Morgan liked Alex a lot - she'd quickly become one of her best female friends and even though Morgan was in love with Brody - she wasn't blind enough to not realize the brunette was attractive. What had gone on between the three of them had been sexy and fun and she didn't want it to interfere with their day-to-day friendship. She knew that Alex had been the best friend for it to happen with given the fact that things had stayed normal.
But then there was the matter of the damn bra that happened to be on the couch, no doubt left there as the three of them had lazily attempted to get their act together following their last tryst. Morgan felt her face flush, both with embarrassment and a bit of arousal from the memory of the last time the three of them had been together like that. But still, she attempted to pretend like she hadn't noticed Alex trying to hide it. But one look up at Toby and she knew that he had noticed. "We can watch something funny. I just don't want to watch anything scary."
Toby sat there for a moment in his chair and tried not to stare. He tried to convince himself that he hadn't seen what he knew he had. At first, upon seeing it, he'd thought that maybe the offending garment belonged to Morgan. But it was the way that Alex had scrambled to hide it that made him realize it did not belong to the redhead at all. His brain scrambled to try to put the pieces together. It had been a long time since Alex and Brody had dated, surely that pillow had been moved since then. He came to the conclusion that something must have happened between the two of them more recently.
He had been denying his own attraction to Alex for a while now, but he couldn't help but feel a flare of jealousy and then one of sympathy for Morgan. He looked at her and mistook the redness on her face for one of anger and thought she must have realized it too. Suddenly very angry with his two friends, he turned his attention away from them. "I just remembered I have to finish a paper," he announced stiffly. He wanted to call Brody and Alex out on what he assumed had happened, but also didn't necessarily want to dredge up such drama in front of Morgan, who he knew loved Brody and who he thought was a nice girl.

Had he been in Alex's shoes, Brody supposed that his first instinct would have been to also hide the evidence as well, but judging by the look on Toby's face he knew that his friend had either realized what had been going on or had been quick to assume the worst. Which, he realized, was probably the idea that he and Alex had been doing something that they shouldn't have. That or Alex was the best friend that Morgan could have ever had by trying to hide the offending article of clothing. Had they been more careful, or had he bothered to do more than simple surface cleaning of the apartment he knew that they would never have been in this situation but now he was faced with the very real circumstance that he might have had to lie to someone that he considered to be one of his closest friends, or he would have had to come clean. It wasn't that he hadn't wanted to shout it from the rooftops, he had to admit though all things considered he wasn't sure that it was the smartest move in the world to tell Toby that he had been involved in more than one sexual encounter with both his girlfriend and Alex.
Looking over at Alex quickly he was trying to judge what his reaction to Toby trying to leave should have been based on how everyone else in the room had reacted. When Alex's attention had snapped to Toby, sitting up to turn her attention to the other boy, Brody realized that she wasn't going to let Toby leave without an explanation.
"Are you sure?" she questioned him. "You don't have to go. The paper can wait, right?"

Toby rubbed the back of his neck and glanced at Alex. The truth was that he was angry and upset and he didn't want to cause a scene. He wasn't sure where it was his duty to be a good friend by turning a blind eye or a good friend by setting them straight. Still, when Alex asked him about staying, he somehow felt badly for trying to leave. "I think I have to go, Alex," he told her. Suddenly he felt faced with his own feelings for Alex and found himself angry at Brody for a lot of reasons.
Feeling a bit of indignation threaten to boil over, he huffed out a breath through his nose and looked away. "I just...yeah. I think it's a good idea that I go." Still, he spared a withering glance at Brody that he hoped communicated that they'd have to talk to each other later without the girls around.
Morgan frowned, looking up at Toby. "Hey, you should stay. I mean it - I have popcorn and everything," she attempted, smiling at him and trying to let him know that - whatever conclusions he'd jumped to, he was wrong.

Alex frowned, not entirely certain what conclusions that he had jumped to at this point. Her mind was racing with the thousand of scenarios that she would have come up with in his shoes but the truth of it was a lot less unfortunate than she was sure he was thinking. Unless, of course, he was thinking that it was a threesome in which she had been involved with Brody and Morgan for the last couple of months - in which case she supposed that he was entirely right.
"Toby, don't go," she asked of him, wondering how much she should really share, and how much she should really share in front of the other two people in the room.
Brody nodded his agreement with Alex's statement. He didn't necessarily want Toby to leave either, at least under these circumstances. It was obvious that something was being misunderstood, he just didn't know if it was better to talk to him privately or have the conversation with the other two participants in the room.
