It had been quite a few years since Melanie had technically lived with anyone. Sure, she and Tripp spent most of their time together alternating between their respective residences - but prior to their relationship she'd always enjoyed having the freedom to come and go as she pleased and enjoy her own space. More than that she'd always found comfort in knowing the suite at the hotel had been her home as a young girl. Still, the invitation to move in with Tripp had been thrilling and she had known immediately it was the right thing to do - even after only six months together.
Of course, the act of moving was certainly a stressful one. She'd had to sort through all of her belongings and decide what she really needed. Many things - like the harp she'd never successfully learned to play and dresses she hadn't worn in years were sold or donated depending on their condition. Other things had been organized as meticulously as possible and then packed into boxes - more boxes than she'd expected. So many that she had enlisted the help of her mom and brother to help.
"So everything is labelled. I guess we can start in the kitchen. We have a lot of room to work in there - Tripp's not much of a cook, so we can organize it however we want," she explained excitedly. She smiled brightly at them - possibly just as excited about his fantastic kitchen as she was to live with him.

Maddy grinned brightly as Melanie explained her plan to organize the kitchen. It wasn't just that she knew that her daughter's love for cooking was making her excited to put everything in its proper place as she planned the sort of meals that she would be preparing in his new kitchen, it was the entire situation. She had never seen Melanie quite as happy as she seemed to be around Tripp, and while Maddy knew that Cooper still had hesitations over something about this particular relationship for whatever reason, she didn't have any hesitations herself. In fact, if anything they seemed to be a perfect match.
Tripp brought in another box of Melanie's kitchen things, smiling at her and pressing a quick kiss to her lips and Maddy couldn't help but keep grinning at them. "What would you like Jamie and I to help with?" she asked, more than willing to help in whatever way that she could.
Jamie shook his head at his sister, wanting to easily dismiss his sister and her love for cooking and apparently her boyfriend, but he had promised both Melanie and their mom that he was going to be on his best behavior and help out in whatever way that he could. For right now, it seemed that Melanie was more than content to just decorate and start putting things away though he had to admit that the changes in her personality weren't entirely unwelcome. They also served as a harsh reminder of how quickly he tried to defend her to Kensi, which in turn reminded him of the drama from New Year's and the progression of his relationship with AJ. He tried to shake those thoughts, however, as he set himself to the task at hand.

Melanie smiled at Tripp as he walked in with a new box, she leaned up on her tip toes to give him another quick kiss. "Thank you, sweetheart," she told him with a grin before turning her attention to her family. "If you guys want to just start opening the boxes for the kitchen and unpacking things, I'll put them in the right spot," she requested before smiling at her brother. "After I'll make us lunch," she told him. "Whatever you want. And you can keep all the bubble wrap," she joked.
She knew that she'd never been the type to enjoy change, but she'd found that since dating Tripp she was welcoming it more and more. She liked the person that she was turning into - growing into, even. But she sometimes wondered how her family was taking all of the change. Her father obviously had disapproved and it pained Melanie more than she let on. In fact, knowing all that her father had done to raise her on his own when she was very young and the way he'd always made sure she was happy made her feel guilty about how unhappy he seemed to be with her. Meanwhile, she felt like Madison seemed entirely on board. It was Jamie that she couldn't quite read - he had his own things to be concerned about, as a seventeen year old boy, but they'd always been so close. She knew that when they were much younger, he'd taken it hard when she'd tried to spend more time in Austin and part of her was curious how she felt about her moving in with Tripp and spending more time away from the family again.

Maddy grinned at the brief exchange between Melanie and Tripp before moving toward the boxes lining the kitchen, directing Jamie to help her start opening up boxes and laying out Melanie's things so that they could see what exactly needed to be sorted into new locations. Among all of the other reasons that she already felt that she had to like Tripp, she had to admit that she loved the fact that his apartment seemed to be well-equipped to suit Melanie's needs as well. From the large, and apparently unused, kitchen space to the spare room where Melanie had planned on setting up her own home office, she really thought that it was the perfect living arrangement for them. Though, she knew that there were maybe those who had their hesitations. For the most part, she had tried to avoid talking to Cooper about any of it knowing that it had been a source of tension in their family recently.
Jamie pulled out a stack of pots and pans, setting them on the counter to let Melanie figure out where they were going to be most conveniently located in her new kitchen space. To a certain extent, he didn't understand the allure of moving in with someone else. Though he supposed that had more to do with the fact that he had never lived with anyone but his parents before, so at the moment, the solitude that maybe moving into Melanie's own suite afforded was more intriguing. Besides, as the younger brother, he wasn't exactly sure how he was supposed to feel about things getting serious with his sister and her boyfriend. Particularly when the boyfriend was not only older than her, but that they have publicly expressed a certain enjoyment of private activities he wasn't sure he approved of. Still, he supposed that the changes in his sister's personality had been well worth it.
"Maybe later we can wrap each other up and fake sumo wrestle like we used to," he teased, though the curious look from Tripp told him that maybe he thought the idea was a little juvenile.
"No, don't do that," Maddy dismissed. "I think you're both too old to do that now."
