She hadn’t really known what she’d been expecting. Earlier, on her way to see her parents, she’d briefly wondered if maybe things would be different for once. Maybe the bond of parenthood would kick in and pair with the fact that she was their only daughter and they’d be able to offer her some kind of guidance. She’d observed enough normal families in her time away from her own to make her hopeful that maybe her own would finally start acting like one.
Of course, that had been a silly thought and after a stressful day that had involved putting Cassidy on leave from work, telling her parents she was pregnant and being told by her doctor that they had to carefully monitor her blood pressure and stress levels she wanted nothing more than to curl up in a ball. Of course, that wasn't ever the Amber Jacobs way, not really. Instead, she'd decided she was going to go home - that it was time to talk to Brandon. She moved around the hotel room she'd been staying in, gathering her things and trying to get all of the pent up emotions out of her system before she went out to face the world. Something about seeing her parents always made her feel emotionally raw.

Focusing had been the most difficult part of Brandon's day, which he supposed was actually saying something considering the fact that Cassidy had barged in and forced him to talk about everything that had been happening over the last few days. There hadn't been a second since then that he hadn't stopped wondering what his next step was going to be. Truthfully, focusing had been the biggest problem he had been having over the last few days in general. Every time he tried to distract himself with something, he found that he started eventually thinking about Amber; what she was doing, where she was, how she was.
It hadn't taken long after Cassidy left for him to start trying to figure out where she had gone. He thought that he had finally figured it out and was pleased when he was able to get her room number from the front desk of the hotel. Standing outside of her room, he took a deep breath before knocking.

Amber's brow furrowed when someone knocked on her door. She hadn't even called down to let them know she was checking out yet, so she wasn't actually sure who it could be. "Just a second," she called out, wiping her eyes and checking her reflection in the mirror to make sure she didn't look too splotchy and that her eyes weren't too red. Though, she imagined that there were worse things than a hotel employee knowing she'd been crying.
She pulled the door open though and found Brandon on the other side. "Brandon," she gaped at him for a moment. "How did you know where I was?" she asked, looking down at her feet. She hadn't even told Cassidy where she was staying while she was out of the Penthouse, she'd largely wanted to be secluded - knowing fairly well that with too much exposure to anyone, she was likely to be less than pleasant to be around.

All things considered, with all of the time that he spent focusing on this moment, getting the chance to talk to her again, he hadn't actually figured out exactly what he was going to say. Brandon just wanted to jump right into apologizing, telling her that he was sorry that any of this happened, sorry that he hadn't ignored her when she said that she needed time. Mostly he was sorry that he had ever given her a reason to fell like they needed time in the first place. "I figured you would try and find somewhere where I wouldn't normally look you," but the truth was, he thought that he just knew her well enough to know where she would have gone. It was where he would have gone in her place.
"Can we talk?" he asked, worried that she still wasn't ready to finally have it out.

Amber bit her lip and nodded, moving aside to let him in. After closing the door behind him, she let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding in since she walked out of the Penthouse the other night. She bit her lip, leaning against the door and looking at him. Yes, she'd been preparing to go home and talk to him herself, but part of her wanted to know what he was going to say, first. Words from her parents earlier in the day echoed in her mind and she briefly wondered if, maybe, he was there to say what she'd been most worried about. She tucked her hair behind her ear and took a breath, "Hi," she said softly, feeling a bit pathetic. "What did you want to talk about?"

He sighed, pleased that she had decided to let him into the room. That was going to be the hardest part, he knew, but it let him know that she was much closer to being ready to forgive him than he had hoped. Brandon looked at her, noting that it looked like she may have been crying again, but he tried not to let it get to him. He hated that he had the ability to make her so upset. "Hi," he repeated her sentiment. "I'm sorry that I ever gave you any reason to doubt me. To doubt how I feel about you." He had wanted to tell her that he was sorry that he had kissed Gwen, that he was sorry that he had freaked out about the fact that they were going to have a baby together, that he was sorry for so many things that had led them to this point. But at the same time, it wasn't all bad and that was the part that he wanted to get back to. "I wanted to tell you that I know what I want - and that's you."

Amber listened to him and let out a soft sigh. It was without hesitation that she pushed off the door and walked up to him, arms wrapping around his neck and holding herself close to him. "Brandon," she muttered softly against him. She hadn't necessarily realized just how frightened she was that he would have reached a different conclusion, but hearing it took a weight off of her. She pulled back slightly, looking up at him. "I'm sorry I left," she admitted. "I know how you feel about me, Brandon. I was just worried that maybe it wasn't enough - that I wasn't enough."
She sniffled a bit, looking down. "I was packing up my things to come see you," she admitted. "I'm so sorry, Brandon."

Brandon relaxed against her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close. He hadn't realized how many of the little things he was going to be missing, things like just getting to hold her close, spending time with her, just talking to her. Everything about their time together had seemed so enjoyable when he was faced with the possibility that he wasn't going to have it for a while, but now that she had let him into the hotel room, he just wanted to focus on taking advantage of all of the little things he had missed. "No, it's okay," he told her, "It's not your fault for leaving. I made a mistake and I'm so sorry for that. I'm just sorry for everything."

Amber shook her head at him. "No," she countered."I shouldn't have run just because things got hard. I know that I'm not the easiest person to deal with," she muttered. "I love you and I was just being stupid." She took a step back, pacing away and running her hand through her hair, rubbing the back of her neck. "Honestly, I don't even know why you want me back," she admitted.

He frowned, uncertain of what had changed in the last few days that would have made her feel like this had been in any way her fault. Having it be his fault hadn't been the best feeling in the world, but he knew that things had been going incredibly well prior to his own mistake. It had been his mistake that had caused them to wind up in this place, and it had been her feelings that had been hurt. And it should have been her that had been making him feel like he needed to beg for her forgiveness to take him back. "Don't say that, you're not a difficult person," he told her, watching her pace the room, "I love you. It was my fault that any of this happened and I promise you that it'll never happen again."

Amber nodded, she leaned against the dresser in the hotel room. "I love you, too. And I forgive you, it's fine. I understand why it happened," she assured him.
She pursed her lips for a moment, looking up at him. "I went to the doctor today, for the baby. And I went to go talk to my parents to tell them I was pregnant," she told him. "I also put Cassidy on paid leave after an argument," she added, her brows lifting as she replayed her day in her head. "And I wanted to come home tonight and tell you I was sorry for leaving and ask you to take me back and to tell me that things were going to be okay," she nodded. "You just beat me to it by showing up here first."

Saying that she understood why it happened had been his cue to stop apologizing for it. If she was ready to move past it, then he was going to start trying to move past it at all. Especially when she started talking about things that were much more in the present. He knew that her parents had always been difficult for her to deal with, and their own interaction with their daughter had been less than traditional. This had clearly not been her best day, and he wanted to do nothing more than hold her close and tell her that everything was going to be fine. "Is everything okay?" he asked, uncertain if he meant the baby specifically, or if she was okay in lieu of the conversation with her parents, or the argument with Cassidy.

Amber bit her lip, shrugging her shoulder up. "My doctor said that everything is going fine right now, but that because I lost a baby when I was seventeen that I have to monitor my blood pressure and my stress levels," she said before letting out a dry laugh. "Which, I then probably ruined by going to see my parents." She took a breath and shrugged a shoulder up, "My mother said that it explained why I looked as though I'd gained weight, my father asked if I even knew who the father was, then she asked me if I was going to keep it, he asked me if something had happened between us or if you just hadn't signed on for the whole thing, my mother suggested that I...shouldn't keep it and implied the baby would turn out like me."
She cleared her throat and walked over to the nightstand where she had a bottle of water. She took a sip and shrugged. "So really, it was the only sort of reunion I should have expected."

Brandon frowned, "Amber, don't let them get to you. And to be honest, I can only hope that our kid turns out like you." Considering that the alternative was that the baby turned out to be like him, he truly did wish that it would in some way inherit its monther's kindness, understanding, and intelligence. Neither one of them had necessarily grown up in what he considered to be normal, healthy relationships with their parents, and he hoped that it would just allow them to become better parents to their own kid. "He or she, or whatever it is, is going to be great. You are going to make a great mom."

Amber smiled softly at him, she approached him again. Leaning up on her tiptoes to press her lips against his softly. She looked up at him, "I just thought that I needed my parents and they didn't understand why." She reached for his hand with her own, lacing their fingers together. "Can you just promise me we'll never make out kid feel like this?"
She squeezed his hand, smiling softly. She felt herself slowly starting to relax now that he was there, now that they were talking and forgiving each other and he had reassured her of how he felt.
