Melanie smirked at Brody. "I'm very rarely nice, Brody, that's a good lesson for you to absorb," she warned him, tracing a finger lightly down his chest. "We can get a drink," she nodded, taking his hand and pulling him off in that direction.
Morgan frowned, jabbing at the elevator button with her thumb repeatedly, willing it to arrive faster. At Jamie's voice, she winced a bit. "Is that why you asked me to go out?" she questioned, not looking up at him. She wiped at her eyes and shook her head. "Was that the plan? Melanie sleeps with Brody while you keep me busy and when I'm upset, maybe you get a piece of the action yourself?" Sniffling, she jabbed at the elevator a few more times and looked up at him sadly. "Is that what you want?"

Jamie sighed heavily, "No, it wasn't. Well, not entirely." He didn't want to lie to her, at least not when he was sure that it wasn't going to solve anything. It would be only too easy for Melanie to dispute it anyway. "Yes, it's true that Melanie had a plan and it involved her distracting Brody while I distracted you, but that's not why I asked you to go out with me. You've been my friend for as long as I can remember, Morgan, and I really do miss spending time with you. I asked you if you wanted to go out because of that, not because Melanie told me that I should." He was trying to speak quickly, knowing that the elevator was going to be here at any second. "I want to spend time with you and prove that I'm not such a jerk. Melanie may be my sister, but there are certain parts of her that I never seemed to inherit, and being truly ... mean is one of those things."

Morgan looked at Jamie sadly, sniffling softly and shaking her head. "I wish I believed that," she whispered. "You knew what she was doing, you knew people would get hurt," she paused and shook her head. "I'm sorry, Jamie. I don't believe you." Crossing her arms in front of her, she looked down. "You should go back inside and enjoy the rest of your sister's party. I don't need comforting," she spat out. The elevator doors slid open and she stepped inside. "If you want to tell them I did, I'm sure it'll make for a great party story once you're in there - be my guest."
She leaned against the wall of the elevator after pressing the button for the lobby and covered her face with her hands. She realized thanks to her ridiculous costume, she now had a very cold and depressing trip home alone, too.
